Just finished Peet's Major Dickason's Blend coffee. Now settling in for some quite decent Keemun from Murchie's - their Keemun Extra Superior.

Link to the manufacturer's page for the tea.
It's a blend Darjeeling that I used to get at a local Indian-owned convenience store. Unfortunately, they've stopped carrying it as well as the Lipton "Green Box" Darjeeling that I like. I'll have to start looking online when my current stash is gone because Twinings just doesn't cut it. The Wagh Bakri is more complex and floral than the Lipton and has a greener taste, but the flavor is a little less robust. If I had to choose, I'd say the Lipton's a little better overall, but they're pretty comparable. I'll be sad if I can't easily get at least one of the two anymore. I've sampled a few single-estate Darjeelings to see what I'm missing, but anything that's even modestly better quality is significantly more expensive. |

Gray and wet day - therefore, drinking Murchie's Russian Caravan Blend tea. This is a great wet day tea, with a solid India and China Black back end, and a healthy dose of Lapsang Souchong. Just right for a day like today.

I found that I liked Darjeeling when I finally started brewing it correctly, ie at the right temperature.
One of the nice things about the more expensive Darjeelings it that they can easily be resteeped. I get 2-3 brews out of most of mine. I let them steep for an additional 30 seconds to a minute (dependent on the original steep time). It really cuts the cost and you are getting a better quality tea. Milk Oolong this morning. |

This morning, coffee. Peet's Holiday Blend. It's not as robust as Major Dickason's, but it's not a bad blend either. |
