Have you did a full FW 4.3.8842 install (with md5 file and upgrade folder)?
And a full (not partial) install of 4c update?

I summarize, just to see if I understand correctly:

• You reinstalled the 4c patch, by selecting "handle update" > "install update."
• You selected "start nickel," and when you then exited nickel by opening "exit_nickel.png," you saw the KSM main menu with rotated screen.
• You also seleced "user scripts" > "start nickel rot_test01.sh," and when you then exited nickel by opening "exit_nickel.png," you saw the same KSM menu form where you started nickel (that means the menu that contains the item "start nickel rot_test01.sh"), and the menu was rotated. (The expected behaviour however is, that KSM shows a little clock that counts the seconds, displays a text that says "Select OK only if the orientation is correct!", and reboots the device after 10 seconds or so.)

If this is what was happening, I do not understand why it is that way. I cannot imagine how a factory reset and re-installing KSM, and applying the patch should solve the problem.

Hello, sorry for the crosspost I posted this previously in the wrong forum.
I had some problem after having installed the KSM patch.
First I updated Koreader (I was in the 2015 stable and updated to the last nightly), and everything went well.
Then I installed KSM patch even if it was not necessary, having a Glo HD. I used "install update" not "partial update". I think that with that also nickel was updated (I am now in 4.0.7523).
The problem is that now KSM doesn't show anymore. Nickel works well but I can't go to KSM anymore, even if I touch the exit_nickel pgn (I just see the icon bigger). To be frank I already had a similar issue before the update: with the exit_nickel command the device was stuck with a message regarding wifi. My solution was to restart the device to have KSM and I was happy with that (that's why I tried the patch: hoping it could solve this issue).
Now this workaround is not effective anymore.
I would try to reinstall KSM 08, how do I procede? Is overwriting the ksm directory enough?

I think what happened is that the new FW instead of the KSM patch got installed. Try to install only the KSM patch (connect from nickel, and copy the KoboRoot.tgz of the patch to .kobo). This should reactivate KSM. Once KSM is again active, let us talk about the wifi message.

Thank you for pointing me to the wifi problem with older FWs. I uploaded patch v4d. It should now be backwards compatible.
Note: google news does still not work. The reason is that news.google.com is not anylonger available with http protocol, and https is not supported by wget.
Note: wifi manage networks.sh remained as buggy as it was from the beginning.

It works, but it seems it only works for dhcp.sh. It doesn't work for static.sh.
If I choose wifi enable dhcp.sh, WiFi will load, I will be able to access accuweather, and when I start KOReader WiFi will be working too.
However, if I choose wifi enable static.sh, I will have the same problem as before. sdio and dhd.ko will appear as loaded. Trying to access accuweather will give me a exit_code:_1. And when loading KOReader, WiFi won't work. It will appear as disabled, but when exiting KOReader, KSM will ask me if I wish to switch off wifi.

Did wifi enable static.sh ever work for you? I did never try it myself.

Thanks tshering! KSM reactivated, everything works. Not stuck anymore on the wifi message, now I have the prompt "Switch off wifi? Yes/No". Any way to set definitely this and skip the question?

I nailed it: it was the nightmode preload hook. When removed, the problem disappears entirely... Sorry I completely forgot I installed this.

I was using the - supposedly - up-to-date fork of the nightmode from gtalusan. Anyone knows a version which actually works on newer firmwares and H2O?
The only problem that is that the nighmode actually works in nickel, save for the screen rotation bug when I exit from nickel (even when nightmode hasn't been used)

No need to reinstall KSM just to find this. If you do not know, you properly never used it. Chances are it does not correspond to your router set up anyway.

How exactly did you set the night mode preload hook?

Doing tests with WiFi.
I properly uninstalled KSM8 with select in KSM "tools" > "ksm diverse.msh" > "del KSM.sh" > "delete ksm"
* I installed again KSM8, without the patch.

* WiFi ap scan.sh and dhcp.sh will enable WiFi. WiFi will work in KSM and will appear as already enabled and working when launching KOReader.

* WiFi manage networks and WiFi static.sh load sdio and dhd, but WiFi doesn't work. I get exit_code:_1 when running accuweather. The only way to get WiFi working then is selecting wifi disable and then WiFi enable dhcp. WiFi ap scan will load sdio and dhd but WiFi won't work.

Yes, you were right, static.sh didn't work before either with my router. I have just installed patch 4d.
