RIP Linda Cajio

Romance Writers of America is saddened to learn of the death of former association president Linda Cajio.

Cajio was the author of more than thirty romance novels and had been a member of RWA since 1984. She served as RWA vice president in 1990 and as president from 1990–92. In an interview with past presidents, Cajio recalled when she “received a compliment from RWA’s attorney after my last general annual meeting, that the work I and my Board had done, and Emma’s [Merritt] before me, had put RWA on a much more professional footing as a national organization.”

Pack Challenge, Book 1 of the Magnus Pack series by Shelly Laurenston is $0.99 on a Kindle countdown deal.

This series was previously published by Samhain, so it looks like Shelly has gotten her rights back and put it into Kindle Unlimited. I love her books, but they are completely over the top with their characters and humor so definitely sample before you buy.

I absolutely love this 3 book series, they had me laughing until my sides hurt! I have yet to get a book of hers that I don't like.

I've lost count of how many times I have reread them. If they were paper, they would be falling apart.

Nothing new.

I started my annual complete Psy/Changeling series reread early as nothing new in my TBR appealed to me. I am rereading in chronological order this year for the first time. It certainly gives a different perspective on things.

I may have gone a little overboard as I broke up the scenes in the Dorian novella, etc. to be read where they fall in order as well.

I'm just finishing up Echoes of Silence so up next is Caressed by Ice.

I picked up The Lilac Bouquet by Carolyn Brown at NetGalley. According to my Goodreeads shelf I have not read anything by this author before. I can honestly state this was my first and will be my last book. 2 stars.

Loosheesh who use to frequent this thread said Something similar about this author. One of these days I'm going to read the books I've got by her and see if I agree.

Just got an email from Samhain that every book on their site is 50% off. They will be shutting down tomorrow night, so now is the time to grab any last books that you want from them.

My understanding is that they will be paying full royalties (unlike ARe) so you aren't hurting the authors by buying now. Also, although quite a few authors will probably self-pub those books, some may not be available for sale for awhile if ever. For example, Thea Harrison has told her newsletter subscribers that although she is going to self-pub her Elder Races novellas, she has no plans at this time to re-issue her old Amanda Carpenter romances.

I download The Scoundrel's Honor by Christi Caldwell from Netgalley. I read the following and wonder if anyone else has read/hear the same thing:

She didn't have the sense God gave an owl.

I have always heard it was goose instead of owl. I have searched and everything comes up with goose not owl.

So tell me fellow Mobilereaders romance what is your take on this.

If I Google "sense God gave an owl" in quotes the only hit I get is for a pirate site which puts books online for reading in a web browser. The hit is for the book you mention.

Can't find any other reference to it and have mainly heard the Goose reference, although I've heard Ant, Gnat, Acorn and others. It's possible Owl is a common reference some places too I suppose.

She could be being too clever for her own good. I've read that despite their reputation for being wise, owls are in general not as smart as other birds. The author may have heard that and decided to change the standard quote.

I also searched online for "doesn't have the sense that God gave" and came up with other creatures than just geese. I think it's an idiom people like to twist.
