In regard to cowboy romances, Goodreads seems to be operating on the theory that if they pitch enough of them to me, I'll crack.

ROFLU. Thank goodness they haven't tried that on me yet. Not that I'd crack, but just the annoyance factor would be bad for blood pressure.

Good luck! |

Yeah, that's always fun bucketwise, but nevertheless I take a root canal over cataract anytime. The worse eye was mid January, needed longer than expected for recovery, which moved the appointment for the stronger one from two weeks ago to in two months.
Just a fun fact. No one told me that they left an air bubble in there which would decrease in time. When it unexpectedly moved into my vision I was [profanity deleted] that I'm going completely blind on that eye. I've had more severe operations during my lifetime but as a reader - well going blind is my personal nightmare. Last edited by issybird; 02-27-2017 at 04:16 PM. |

I inherited bad teeth from both parents. Mom had full upper and lower dentures, and dad got them later. My original teeth were going, one by one, and root canals and crowns were part of the replacement process. The fortunate thing is the original teeth just crumbled, but I got very few real toothaches when they did. My dentist was surprised. I was relieved. The final straw was reached when a supposedly permanent crown fell out because the root it was attached to went. I told my dentist "My mother had full upper and lower plates, and so did my father. It's where I'm going to end up. All you are doing is delaying the inevitable. How about we skip over the remaining teeth going one by one and go directly to where I will end up anyway?" She agreed, and we began the process of removing the remaining original teeth. I now have a full lower denture, and an almost full upper one, anchored to a couple of permanent crowns that appear to be permanent. Dentures bring their own complications, like remembering to carry denture adhesive when I travel and refresh it just before sitting down to a meal, but it's still a vast improvement over the alternative. ______ Dennis |

Grrr. Software.
I like to install the Dynamic Range meter from the Dynamic Range database into Foobar. It's quite old nowadays, but it still works, and gives a quick indication of how well a CD was mastered. Anything starting at 11 is in 'good' territory for me, and anything starting at '14' is exceptional. I've been trying to get the component to write the result of the calculation into meta data tags. "This option has to be enabled in Preferences", the help file says. Check: x Write DR to Meta Tags. Should work. Ehm... No. It actually DOES write when the option "Write DR to Meta Tags" is disabled. Maybe the newer versions of Foobar changed something in their plugin API, because I can't remember having this issue in years past. The component isn't really important; I'd remove the tags in a jiffy if they are bothersome for whatever reason, but I just like the quick indication of how 'good' an album is with regard to mastering quality. |

Crown reattached today.
I too have inherited bad teeth with soft enamel from both parents. I broke a cusp off one molar whilst eating pizza, and the cusp off another molar eating Triscuit thin crisps. So far, 4 wisdom teeth extracted, 4 canine teeth extracted, 2 root canals, 2 molar extractions, 1 partial, and 3 crowns. By the time I die, the majority of my estate net worth will be buried with me in my mouth. I think my dentist is listing me as a 'long term asset' on her financials. ![]() |

Total first world rant here.
NBC is a broadcast network. They are NOT a cable network. But, when I go to their website, they tell me I must log in with my cable provider to watch their shows. I refuse to pay my cable provider $10 for what is supposed to be an over the air network. What a bunch of money hungry ______. If I used a cable provider I wouldn't need the website. Oh well I guess I will just youtube the Voice. |

I woke up half an hour ago, at 3am and needed to use the toilet. I tried switching on my bedside lamp, which didn't work. My first thought was that I messed up something when hooking things up again this afternoon, but when looked up I noticed that it was very dark outside. Turns out that shortly before midnight power failed in a big part of the city. There was a fire somewhere. The power company is now slowly switching power by postcode again, and is slowly getting closer. I guess I'll stay up and read until we're connected again and see what turns on what should stay off and vice versa.
