I think it is for going back to where you last opened the book from, which makes sense to me - one thing I missed from my first readers (Sony PRS-T1 then T2) was the go back button.

I like too that when searching from the book, the default is what I used last, whether from inside the book or from the book list, instead of systematically from inside the book.

Seeing big performance improvements here, with collections list loading in 2 or 3 seconds as opposed to 8-9 previously. Also, highlighting is much improved and quite rapid now, which is very welcome.

However, I cannot complete a manual sync. When I connect to Wi-fi, it says "syncing" and then stops, but the last sync date is not updated. When I sync manually, the wheel will spin forever until I stop it.

Also do not have (nor do I want) the new home screen. I prefer the old one.

Loving the performance improvements, though!

Is the jumping to footnotes you see in epubs or kepubs?

I've had no issue in kepubs, though I don't come across many footnotes save for the Discworld series.

I think it should require a special combination of taps(to reset the eReader), a special pin(to reset the eReader), or just using your Kobo password (to reset the pin). If anyone else agrees, please reply.
At this time, I don't even want a PIN so a non-issue for me. What I would like to be able to change my password on Kobo's site if my device was ever stolen and have entering the new password on my ereader to be required to access content or make purchases.

I have a Kobo Aura One which was just updated to this firmware. Guess what? My homescreen did not change. It's not as simple as the OP said. It's not just high res readers will see a new homescreen (what does that even have to do with resolution anyway?)

I do appreciate the series sort, it works flawlessly.

I was on the OTA 4.3.8842, after I flashed the update manually I still had my old homescreen. Then due to some problems I wiped my device then flashed the same update on factory firmware (which was 4.1 something) and now I have the new homescreen. I am not sure this is due to flashing on top of the OTA, because of the version difference, or because I am flashing it on a new device.

I am also on Aura One.

I agree that it's probably changing to go back to the last area you used. But again, I think it's silly to have it ever link back to Home, when the Home icon is at the upper left, or link to Search, when the Search function is at the lower right in the menu, rather than how it was linking back to the Library.

Maybe someone will add it to a patch at some point, but not sure it's possible to change a function. But it's pretty much a useless area for me now since it's a duplicate of functions that are already there, but they didn't add an option to go to the Library from within a book to replace it.

If you search the library and open a book from the search results list, the <Search button takes you back to the search results. It is not the same thing as the Search in book function available from the lower right menu.

(This worked the same in 3.19.5761, but the <Search button was misnamed as <Books, and has now been fixed)

I decided to update my Pocket list from the One last night, for the first time since I sideloaded 4.3.8842, and not only my Pocket content DIDN'T appear, but I had the noted bug of disappearing collections (not a big problem when home next to my computer thanks to Calibre).

Also Kobo downloaded the links to the last books I bought on Kobo and haven't yet suppressed from my Kobo account. I noticed it because a tile appeared in the middle of my old style home screen saying I had new books (without the covers). I had to go to the books list and select imported books to be able to eliminate the links.

I used to connect to wifi ONLY to get Pocket content, and not be afraid of Kobo upgrading F/W or downloading content without my say so, but I'm annoyed that doesn't hold true anymore. All that means that the Pocket feature is not available to me anymore, even should that bug be corrected.

Oh so I'm not the only one that has the problem with reading time. I've formatted the ka1 maybe 3 days ago, and the statistic says " 307 hours read".
Funny

It's more about other people in my house who like to try and mess with my Kobo when I am not looking.
