Thank you. It did work - for the French and English test words, but not for the German Word. So I added another - idem.
I tried to cancel the French and English words, they remained. So I restarted the device, the French and English words were correctly cancelled, and the German words appeared.

This feature is obviously not ready, which is probably why it is not directly accessible. I'll be interested when it is ready.

EDIT: The show in book works, the show definition doesn't

I always leave wi-fi on. And I also tried turning it off and back on right before syncing to make sure it was connected and active -- no luck. The only way I can get my Aura One to acknowledge that it's synced is by connecting it via USB to Kobo Desktop. For now, I've shut off the auto sync so I don't wake up to a drained battery.

It seems like they've made the wi-fi aggressively time-out and go into a standby mode when its not actively transferring any data. My wi-fi is insanely weak on the 2.4 GHz band. (Thankfully my other devices can use 5 GHz or Ethernet). So maybe the wi-fi is going into standby before the device gets the message that it is in fact synced -- new books and pocket articles are showing up, but the sync icon just keeps endlessly spinning.

I had a glitch while patching, a factory reset, so my stats went to zero. I've been reading for a couple of hours today, and the stats show 0.0 hours reading, 0 minutes per secession , 53 pages turned and 26.5 pages per minute. At this rate, I should be able to finish my library in no time. If minute were like hours...

The awards are a mess too - Since everything reset I should have no awards, but I am getting credit for turning 10,000 pages and for reading 5 times during cocktail hour (over 2 days since the reset...) I don't really care much about the awards, but it is interesting.

After the long period of no updates (for those with older readers), this new FW is providing hours of entertainment on Mobileread. Thanks again to all of you that experiment, research and patch!

Is there any database entries for the new homescreen? If so, can I see them so I can compare them with my own and see what I can do with them.

This might have already been addressed... I'm not going to read 15 pages of posts to find out!

I have a Kobo Aura One which was just updated to this firmware. Guess what? My homescreen did not change. It's not as simple as the OP said. It's not just high res readers will see a new homescreen (what does that even have to do with resolution anyway?)

I do appreciate the series sort, it works flawlessly.

There is no PIN-code protection option in the Energy saving and privacy section though...same as always. I reviewed all other Settings screens and they also have nothing new.

The only place where I've seen references to the working PIN code were on the Russian forum: http://www.the-ebook.org/forum/viewt...320304#1320304

The screen shot is in Russian locale as well, the bottom section is all about the PIN code.

The poster said that the PIN code made first appearance in the 4.2.8432, but that it only showed up when the firmware was installed as part of a factory reset. PIN code disappeared after the reader updated to 4.3.8842 and re-appeared after he updated again, this time with a factory reset. He has a Glo HD.

The new homescreen is deliberately being rolled out to only a percentage of users.

You need to set the affiliate to Rakuten to have the PIN lock entries show up in the Energy savings and privacy setting page(s).

I personally like the new homescreen, but it would be better if instead of showing recommended books, it showed a grid of beta features (as icons) and/or the stats. Also, the bottom buttons should be about half the height.

For now, I am planning to find a way to hide the recommended section.

I hate the new home screen with a passion. I can't delete tiles I don't want to see anymore. I am not interested in buying books on Kobo! If they want to give us a new design why not just let us customise it? I am more interested in seeing reading stats and books I'm reading.

The major change seems to be the home screen (for higher res devices), series sort in Library view, brightness level now changes by 1%, etc.

The usual very uninformative Kobo release notes: Your ereader software has been upgraded. DUH!!

Have fun!
Connected my H2O) to see if it was available here in NZ. Started the Kobo desktop and it said there was an important desk top update that had to be installed. Once that completed it just Synced with the H2O, thats all.

Left it for a few minutes the ejected the H2O. everything was the same, no new homescreen, etc.. Then it switched to the updating screen.

Five minutes later that finished, and restarted the H2O. On restart the usual homescreen appeared, but settings/about device say the firmware has been updated to 4.3.8842 dated 21/02/2017.

There was no indication that the firmware had even bee downloaded let alone installed, but it must have happened with the desktop update.

Yup, the person who has posted about it in the Russian forum has discovered the same thing. He was changing the affiliate to be able to download the new firmware and discovered the PIN reappeared after he changed it back to RakutenBooks

I just updated my Aura One to the latest firmware and have a strange behaviour since:

the front LED is permanently lit red like in charging mode. When I touch the screen, the light goes off for a few seconds.

When charging, the light is now off.

Anyone else experienced this?
