I don't use my Glo enough to notice problems (but I have a book opened on it a the moment to test the stats - every few minutes I turn the page). And fullscreen could be the culprit.

OK, I do remember that. And I have a vague feeling I worked out the pattern, but I can't think of it now.

Yes, I did a factory reset two months ago just left the GloHD sitting there (un-updated) while I "groomed" my library in Calibre (tag fixes, collections, series info etc.). Once cleaned and ready to go, I turned it on and sync'd...and rec'd the current FW.

There is no PIN-code protection option in the Energy saving and privacy section though...same as always. I reviewed all other Settings screens and they also have nothing new.

There seems to be code in the current firmware for a PIN lock feature that requires you to enter a PIN when turning the device on or waking from sleep, but I don't know if it is functional yet or how to enable it.

For what it's worth, I've just updated my Kobo Mini to firmware 4.3.8842 (Mark 4) by side loading it from my computer. I was a little nervous that it might brick the device but can report that the Mini booted up as normal and is now running the latest firmware. I've only had a superficial look at what has changed and haven't really noticed any changes at all. Given the Kobo Mini's lower resolution and age, I'm not really surprised that they haven't changed the home screen at all.

I thought I'd post this in case anyone else with a Mini was wondering whether the device works with this new firmware. I'm delighted that Kobo (by accident or design) is still releasing new firmware that supports this device.

I ended up updating my Glo HD via OTA as well, after removing the patches. Everything went smoothly, the update took only a few minutes and the device turned on correctly. I suspect the problems I had with the H2O were due to not removing the patches before updating, so my fault, probably.

I still have the old home screen for both devices. I have to say that so far, I haven't seen some of the problems mentioned above - my reading stats appear to be working as usual, at least for the three books I have open at the moment, and syncing takes a shorter time than before (but I always turn the Wi-Fi on before attempting it). One thing I've also noticed is that dictionary lookup seems to be faster, but also occasionally leaves bad ghosting afterwards, so much that I have to refresh the page.

Thank you everyone, and especially davidfor and GeoffR for your help and feedback.

The "add words" doesn't work. I added the relevant line (I don't remember what where, since I can't find the thread/post where it was given) to the file in .kobo, but when I add words from a dictionary pop-up, it does tell me the word was added up, but the "mes mots" in Activité is empty.

The screen itself has problems: the sort choice offers only "recently added" (in English when my language is French) , and the second line in the blurb - in French - is cut-off right and left instead being split into 2 lines.

I tried first from a German book, then a French and an English one to see whether the problem was language-specific, but none appears.

It happens the same in Kobo Aura (not Aura One). I think there was a way to correct it, am I wrong?

I've never removed any patches before updating the firmware and my H2O has never had a problem with a firmware update. So really, you do not have to remove the patches before updating the firmware.

I did another sync now and it was much faster than yesterday, closer to what it was in 3.19.5761, so maybe the problem was with the servers rather than the firmware.

There is a firmware patch `Custom synopsis/details line spacing`, but I'd still like Kobo to fix it :-)

I wonder if it affects all the devices with 1024x768 resolution.

Found, installed and it works like a charm

Perhaps, but the size was really awful and, taking into account that there were taylor-made values, not generic, I think it's a very avoidable bug with a bit of device-specific testing.

You might need to restart the device to see the newly added words.

Kobo Aura H2O. I put a new home screen. In icons of books practically invisible frame. Is there a patch that solves this problem?
