is there a change log for this update i my kobo aura (first gen) updated itself and i cant really see any difference.

None of that is an issue for me. I find the Kindle software/fonts and cloud management system very usable.

I just got this update on my Aura HD and was bummed to see it messed up my collections. I only had two, but they were useful for the way I like to do things and one disappeared while three ancient ones long deleted reappeared and needed to be deleted again. Only the most recently created one stayed intact (although I'm unsure if it's missing any books or not). My collections are created and managed manually on the device.

Like I say I was bummed, but given that it's the first real issue I've had in three years I'm not too put out by it.

So far what I noticed is

-The left side of the tweaking dot on the bar(ones that changes font size/brightness etc.) is bolder instead of one continuous thin line and the big dot.

-Changing brightness is different, it jumps in 5% instead of 10% and under 5% it changes in 1% scale. So you can easily tweak it however you please with the right and left side symbols without trying to position your finger on the right spot of the slider, only for it to change slightly when you lift your finger. I really love this change.

-Keyboard looks new and without the grid it looks lot better.

Maybe there are other changes, it showed a "what's new" thing after I update but it was really small and these weren't mentioned, it was mainly about book sharing as far as I remember.

Why is it others are having issues with collections? I installed 4.2.8432 and I didn't have any issues with collections. The books on my Kobo are all side loaded and managed with Calibre.

After reading this thread I checked my collections and found the same thing, all had zero books.

I used the Repair Account feature of Settings / Device Information and all my collections are now restored.

All mine were too. I still lost all the books in my collections. The books stayed but the collections were empty.

I was wondering if that would help. But, are you sideloading the books or buying them? The "Repair Account" is about fixing issues with downloaded books. It probably does also force a download of collections from the server, but the server doesn't have any details of the sideloaded books.

Thank you so much for this! I'd tried repair account on the desktop app with the device connected and it didn't restore my collections but the repair account on the device itself worked.

All my collections were side-loaded through Calibre. That's why I'm annoyed.
