Hallo, the Nightmode-Patch doesn´t work in new FW4028283! Is it possible to fix it ?

I just updated my Aura One to Firmware 4.2.84.32 and the Nightmode linked on the third message of this thread works fine for me.

BTW, I wish some developer would fix it to switch nightmode on and off setting a specific brightness level as it's possible on the H2O, without having to edit the .ini file. No dev with an Aura One I guess... sigh. But as long as I have Nightmode working I'm still happy...

People talking about having to edit the .ini to toggle Night Mode on the Aura One: are you aware that you can also toggle it from Nickel with toggle_nightmode.png if you set KSM8 to preload screenInv.so? That's what I'm doing, and it works, though not as nice as triggering it with a specific brightness level.

I have a Glo and it updated to 4.2.8432 last night and night mode went bye bye. Is this still going to work? One time I had to do it over again after an update it basically did a factory reset. I have a lot of books and collections set up. I would hate to do it all over again. But then again reading at night in regular mode sears my retinas.

For me it (build 13) works on Touch and Glo. I only toggled it on and off using fmon once or twice to see whether it works, and it did. I do not think I tried toggling with the hardware keys though. But I can try this evening. It should definitely not be necessary to factory reset your device.

I forgot one thing: I am using KSM, and therefore things work a little different. Therefore, I better had not responded here.
Normally (i.e, without KSM), every FW update overwrites a certain file (rcS) that has been modified by nightmode, and one has therefore to reinstall nightmode again (or at least a part of it). Since the nightmode package has been released, there have been some changes to the rcS file that possibly prevent the old package from (re)installing nightmode. If this is the case, the problem should concern all models, not only Glo. I guess, there must be some updated install script around.
Edit: I guess, this should do it.

hi, I have no idea why, but nightmode stopped working. I have followed the steps over and over again, uninstalled, installed, no result. It just doesn't do the trick anymore on my Aura.
Can you help?

I've got a Glo too (no HD too) but mine is always with fw 3.19.5761 and not 4.2.8432 like you... have you tried this link too fix your problem with nightmode :

It's seems to be the solution BUT on a 4.2.8283... I don't know if it runs on a 4.2.8432.

I'd like to have the opinion of KevinShort on it, and perhaps (not perhaps, I'm sure !) he will give us a version v14 of his famous nightmode plugin that will be compatible the last firmware !!!

I had also the same problem; by installing fw 4.2.8432 the nightmode dissapears. So, I tried the nightmode plugin from the link you posted on my old Kobo Glo (not HD) en Kobo Aura HD. And it works!

Cool besides undoing night mode most of my collections disappeared when my Glo auto updated. That's going to take awhile to set back up. It updated in the middle of me reading. I know that's never happened before and if I've ever synced it has been manual. But it decided to change itself to auto. I changed it back to manual. If it changes itself back to auto again and screws up my device I'm throwing it in the trash.

unfortunately, the nightmode stopped working after synch. I don't even know why it performed a synch since I never gave any instruction to do so, but suddenly my nightmode was gone and I can't get it to work anymore. Done a factory reset, reinstalled the root.tgz a million times, looked at the nightmode ini if everything was correct, nothing helps. It just doesn't do the trick anymore and the whole e-reader is now useless to me.

Hi Koentje, we are both Nederlands so that might help. I downloaded the folder from that link

but now I don't know what to copy into the .kobo or what else to do with the folder. There are a lot of subfolders and files in it. What should be copied?
