Bulk Removing Series tags (when you only have one book)

PROBLEM: I have nearly 400 "Series" icons/tags that show up in Moon+ Reader Pro when I "Sort By Tags". They are at the top, and are in addition to the regular tags (Mystery, Thriller, etc).

How would I bulk delete in Calibre those Series tags for books where I only have one in the Series? (If the series is 4 books, I only have book 2....or...If the series is 7 books, I only have book 1). There are about 280 books, where I don't have any other in the series.

In metadata edit/bulk there's a "Clear All" checkbox next to Series dropdown that will clear all selected books. I guess it's just a matter of manually select the single books series by hand.

AZBooks - there's an easier way, create a custom column like this:

Name:	series count column.jpg
Views:	206
Size:	29.4 KB
ID:	155058

The Template must be {series:count(,)} exactly, and the search/sort must be Number.

Whenever you add, change or remove a column, calibre will want to restart - go ahead with that.

After the restart do a search for #series_count:"=1"

There may be a more efficient way, but that should work.

The calibre template language can be made use of in many situations, its worth experimenting with a few simple examples.

Hey BetterRed,

That a great idea, but I couldn't get it to work. It only counts how many different series are in the Series tag. This is why everything shows up as 1. It needs to count how many identical series are in the Series column. This means it also needs to compare the text/spelling somehow.

Would using the below somehow help:
--item_count, -i
(Outputs only the number of items in a category instead of the counts per item within the category

I have the same exact settings.

OK. I found it. In the very left pane of the application, right click on Series>Manage Series. Sort by count. Highlight all the Series with just one book, RECYCLE! It was that simple.

@AZBooks - didn't the search I gave you work, all you needed to do was copy and paste it into the search box at the top of the book list and press enter.

If you've not already done so, I suggest you watch the Calibre Grand Tour video, see ==>> Video Tutorials. Watch a segment, pause video, go into calibre and practise what you just saw, if necessary rewind video and try again, otherwise move on to next segment...

And have a quick browse of the calibre User Manual, just so that you get an idea of what's there. Download links (epub, azw3 and pdf) are at the end of the introductory paragraphs.
