Exactly... and you know what will happen if they want us to pay for a firmware update. The outrage will be very loud.

Then again, the chances of getting firmware upgrades for a previous hard ware rev go down quite a bit. Look at the PRS500 owners that didn't get Digital Editions support.

Now that this new kindle is out, will the v1 become legacy? I think the 1.2 rev for the K1 was just to get people to want multi-device support.

I agree. Why haven't they been? I'm getting a bit annoyed at Amazon's slow pace of development, to be honest.

Some of them have but I would like to see a bit more, like folders. Monospaced fonts and image zoom were fairly high on my list, though, as well as the ability to remove files without going to the Content Manager. The first two were obviously needed to expand sales of tech books but the last one was purely a convenience. Still, how freakin hard could folders be? (I just had to vent a little.)

I bought the Kindle 2, cover and light this morning.

This is my first E-book reader. I was on a flight from Memphis to Seattle last week and chatted with someone that had the Sony 700. Looked like a great idea for a book addict like myself.

I started researching and found out that the Kindle 2 was coming out this week, so I waited and bought.

I would agree that if I had the Kindle 1, it would be very hard to justify the upgrade, but for new users, this is great!

I don't know...still looking for them on the Cybook as well. I had been used to using Mobipocket "reading lists" (similar to tags) on my desktop and PDAs for years, and miss them on my dedicated readers.

(I'd also like to see user-installable fonts and more size options on the Kindle.)

I don't know. There's a lot of whining on the Amazon forums about not being offered a trade-in option for Kindle 2. Seems like a lot want to upgrade if they can get a better deal pricewise.

I ordered mine yesterday before the announcement hoping that they would upgrade it to the new Kindle.
(I would have ordered the original Kindle when it first came out but I had just bought the Sony.)

I just checked on my order, it still says shipping estimate between March 2 and March 12.

I also ordered a free Kindle book, and apparently have one registered to my name already.
