You are way too nice to them Booxtor. I welcome the fact that there is competition around but their tactics are questionable.

For example, this article, where they come up with this::

I would encourage people looking for new e-readers to not buy Onyx.
Well:
  • my latest update from Booxtor is from January 2017
  • I can see the updates are being made available regularly on the shop's support pages
  • pre-release version 4.4 of Android is available for testing
  • good luck to Good e-Reader if they can match this level of support

Thanks for pointing me to this article. I didn't read it before and didn't realise how deep they could fall.. It is really villainous of them to act like this. They know, that everything they are writing there about Onyx is slander, but Onyx is the only one , who can blast them away from the market of 13.3" screen size e-readers.. So they are just trying even such a vicious libel and fact manipulating.
They are writing about big variety of Onyx models limited to Russian market - which Onyx just makes on request of Russian distributor as if it something bad. At the same time they mention bad support and hardly new features to those models. How can they know? Do they read Russian forums? I do! And I know the support there is much better then of most other big brands. Anyway those models are produced by Onyx for Russian market only. If their Russian (or Chinese) partner wants to offer bigger variety of models and order it by Onyx - Onyx produces it. Customers from rest of the world should actually not be worried about. Concerning support - AFAIK most of our customers are satisfied with our support. Updates also new features are release quite frequently. I really doubt GoodEreader could ever manage to offer similar kind of support.

As I mentioned to the time, those 13.3" screen with capacitive layer were not available for mass production yet. Not before the end of the 2016.
You know that E Ink's monopoly and behind the door politics are the cause of this mess.
Until some other epaper comes out other then from E Ink this pathetic situation will continue.
It's 2017, everything is digital but there's no supply of relatively cheap and available epaper.

Perhaps we might see some lower powered flexible oled displays with longer lasting batteries. That would be the end of E Ink's epaper business.

Do you have any news about it?

Perhaps Mirasol, Liquavista...?

Wacom

(I'm not sure since I don't have the goodereader)
One important difference is that the goodereader has a wacom tablet and screen, whereas the max has a similar but not identical stylus.

One effect this might have is that whereas onyx have their own stylus API, the goodereader might have a standard wacom API, and might be compatible with more apps.

Is this correct?

There is no wacom in Netronix/Goodereader. The digitizer is based upon "walltop" passive digitizer technology:

Interesting. Is it wacom compatible? Is the API different or identical?

The indiegogo page says:
"The WACOM supported screen will ensure pin-point precision"
and
"WACOM stylus ....... stylus support - ships with unit"

(which sounds carefully worded to avoid saying it is a wacom stylus...though 'WACOM stylus - ships with unit' crosses that line, I think.)

To me what would have mattered most is whether the software is wacom compatible - will programs that already support a wacom stylus also automatically support this one? Currently it is not true for the boox max.

If I would need to know I would ask Netronix not Goodereader.

A bit biased review, seeing as you are supposedly about to release your 13.3 ebook reader, which is in direct competition. :-) I just need an ereader to read books/PDF so don't really expect lots of updates each month. Anyways lets see how your reader does. I have just brought the onyx boox max. If you had released your device I might have brought that. But got fed up with waiting. I know your about to release yours in Decemeber? Or was it September? Which year ;-) The touch screen is the only thing missing which would be good. Good luck with your reader release. I am keen to see your reader in action.

So far, haven't seen any third party video reviews come out, but a few users have said that they will do so to document their experience.

However, people are beginning to post comments/problems/solutions over on the support page which the campaign organizers have finally set up:

http://http://goodereader.com/blog/g...r-13-3-support

On another note, I have been enjoying your YouTube videos of the Boox Max. Very tempting. But I'm trying to hold out until the new model is available as it would be great to have a VGA port.

Thanks, I tried to post up some videos to show people what the Onyx was like. As there was not much out there...
I am still very happy with the device and it does get better and better with the update of software.... I am so glad I did not wait for the goodereader...
I still see it being pretty much the same as the Onyx all be it with touch screen.
I will be looking forward to a new onyx 13.3 with better res and touch screen in the future. But I am sure that is some way off. ;-(

I am surprised no one so far has posted an independent review on the 13.3 good e reader on youtube.
I would very much like to see some.....
In an ideal world I would still like to have two 13.3 in a clam shell, so i could take notes on one and read on the other.. Or have two independent pages side by side... But that is not going to happen. I think i will just end up with two. The current one and when a new one comes out.... ;-)

Anyways I would very much recommend the 13.3 Onyx boox Max for PDF reading or ebook reading. The otherstuff (Surfing and 3rd party apps) not so much... (Due to a lot of it being dependent on Andriod versions and touchscreen....see my videos on youtube regarding these.

I just read their support page....It does not look pretty right now! Let's hope they do iron out the problems. I used to have logitech home music system and that too was open source, and I spent many a hour trying to get it working after new updates, rather than listening to music! (Actually I still use them) it was useful people writing code to provide certain apps. But a lot of time was also wasted. ;-) Anyways I'm happy with the Onyx for now ;-) (Maybe I brought the Onyx at the right time?) As the latest firmware looks so much more polished. I only had neoreader 1 for a week before they brought out firmware updates in December. ;-)

Yes, I do hope that they are able to straighten things out for their backers. It's always nice to have alternative devices out there keeping things competitive and pushing for innovation... But I imagine it will take a good long while to do so which is why I just placed an order for an Onyx Max instead.

Thanks again for the videos you uploaded to YouTube. They really helped me in making the decision.

Odd. I clicked on the the link to try, and sure enough it seemed to be broken.

However, the page is still there and it currently has 101 posts. You can find a link to the support page on their Indiegoogo updates page:

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/1...eader#/updates

However, on my computer, the page takes a while to load and does not always load correctly. I had to do a screen refresh the last time I popped over to take a look.

It may be that they are in the process of shutting down the support page and migrating comments over to a newly created support forum. That is new and different from the previous support page. The forum is still fairly empty, and it seems that some people may be experiencing difficulty posting there from a comment recently posted on the previous support page.

The previous support page, if you can still access it (I can), was a bit unwieldy. However, it gave some insight into the various issues that have been arising with the device. While there have been some happy campers, others seem desperate and have devices that no longer seem to be functioning.

Surprisingly, they still seem to getting backers on their Indiegogo page. Just goes to show the genuine interest in such a device. Hope they're able to sort things out.
