Correct - I've done it numerous times. But it's usually been hit or miss. Regardless, I always try whenever a new promo appears.

Yes, in the past we've jumped right from one promo offer to the next, and we have been paying members many times over the years.

But none of the codes I've tried have worked for us lately.
(It's also possible that I've already used all these promotions and just forgot.)

The issue for me, as far as Audible is concerned, is that I got too accustomed to cheap audiobooks. I used to take advantage of OverDrive/Whispersync pricing a lot and I've been on various promotional memberships since last spring. OD/W is dead and I'm at the end of my last promotional deal, but I'm not willing to pay $14.95 per credit going forward. It reminds me of coming to the end of Kobo unlimited coupons and contests; I had adjusted to much cheaper ebooks and I'm still far from having recalibrated my mental price ticker to the new reality.

I think my new strategy will be to buy a Brooklyn OverDrive card; only four audiobooks I can't get elsewhere and I'm already past breakeven, and that's without counting ebooks. Both Kobo and Audible let the good times roll too long to keep me as a serious, steady customer in the near to intermediate term.

I got on the promo bandwagon only a few offers ago, so I'm bummed. I used up the last credit from the latest promo yesterday and started a cancellation; Audible offered me a free book so this time I took it, but I'll cancel next week before being charged the $14.95.

Brooklyn is well worth it, it I think. They seem to have an excellent selection, much better than FLP. I'm trying to decide if I want to bother renewing FLP.

Anyway, it's hard to know when you can believe something that you hear. But it sounds like the author has done his homework.

That is, if you buy a bottle of EVOO and like it, does it really matter?

You know, I need to go back and re-listen to that audiobook. I am fuzzy, now, on the advantages of olive oil over other kinds of oil, and extra-virgin over plain virgin, just to be honest. But I will say, that the author convinced me that I needed the real thing, with whatever his arguments were.

Too, the bulk of the author's time was spent on the matter of the dishonesty involved and the failure of the authorities or companies to come down hard on the bad guys. A much smaller amount of time was spent, and it was at the beginning of the audio, discussing the reasons that having the real thing is important, although as the audio progressed and the author told of different ways that people were being cheated, he would bring out, briefly, why we didn't want the stuff that companies were putting in to replace some of the extra-virgin olive oil. BTW--I think that I remember him telling of one instance of where a bottle was labeled "extra-virgin olive oil," but there was zero of that in the bottle. Zilch, nada, goose egg.
