Add me to the list of people having issues with the Harlequin site & buying books. It absolutely will not let me view "full site" mode when on my tablet, even though prior to today I've always been able to do so. It also will not let me buy a book. There is a February release series book I want, and it will let me add neither the paper book nor the ebook to my cart. I have tried chrome on the tablet, and firefox & IE on the laptop. |

Harlequin just sent me 2000 points again for not buying anything yet. They've been doing this every month for the last three months. They want me to submit a receipt. I get 2000 points for watching a video. I just bought the elusive Seven Minutes In Heaven book using those points because Overdrive still doesn't have it. No problems here. Sent from my XT1528 |

I just got a notice that Samhain is shutting down on Feb 28. At least they are giving everyone plenty of notice, unlike All Romance. They used to have lots of good authors, but most have moved on. Hopefully the authors will be able to get back the rights to their books and will self-pub them.

Here's the email in case anyone is interested. I also posted in in the original thread about Samhain closing a year ago... Quote:

I hope she really does so this time. Stating they were going to close and would give back all the rights, then not doing so messed up a lot of authors. It's a shame, because she had the opportunity to take the high road and do things the right way. And now she'll be lumped in with ARe and EC. I discovered a lot of authors through Samhain over the years. I will miss what they used to be. |

Geez, Samhain did that once before. Hope they don't change their mind again.

Nah, Samhain is doing it right - from my perspective as a customer and reader. She emailed me and gave me a heads-up, and tells me I have a couple of weeks to download all my books. Samhain is already light years ahead of how ARe went out. |

Thanks to indie authors who have flooded the market with junk readers seldom see small publishers who publish quality books anymore. They are too buried in the slush pile. Open Road is struggling we saw their attempt at Xmas to try and get people's attention by giving away a ton of free books. Unfortunately while I'm eternally grateful for all the freebies. I don't see it changing much. People are struggling with money due to the economy and more inclined to buy books they are familiar with than buy an unknown author at a higher price. More and more readers are using libraries too. Sent from my XT1528 Last edited by Blossom; 02-09-2017 at 10:27 PM. | |

Today I helped someone join Harlequin Rewards and she told me she was able to download her book into the Overdrive app. I was not aware this was possible but it's good to know if you are traveling and don't have access to ADE. Sent from my XT1528 |

Well, I'm a Samhain customer as well and haven't gotten an email. If I didn't hang out here, I wouldn't know about that. Yes, I knew about Harlequin and the Overdrive app. When I was trying to download that Lauren Dane book last year (that I was never able to), I installed Overdrive on my computer to try and download it that way. It did not work. |

If you're up for a short trip to South Africa, Kobo has a couple of new release bargains.
(Some mystery & suspense here and there, too, if you're interested.) |
