HD Glo
OK, I just put it on the HD Glo. Seems to work, but to be honest once you get used to the KA1 screen, it is hard to go back to the smaller one. So, what to do with the Glo?

The Glo is smaller, but not much lighter. The new FW on the KA1 appears to have solved the problems I was having with battery drain.

I can shed some light on this light issue.

When I set the backlight to 2% or lower, it automatically drops to 0% after a few seconds.

Also, when setting it to 0%, although the screen reads 0, it is still on for the same amount of time as above.

I wonder why...

I would not advise it. There were kernel changes in 4.2.8283. Until a firmware version for the Glo and other devices is released with an update kernel, it is not a good idea to try these releases.

If you are talking about the original Glo, this FW does not work, in the sense that it is not usable. However it does not brick the device beyond the possibility of recovery.

Someone posted that he bought an H2O and it updated to this firmware. So I do think it's real and not just some beta.

There is another firmware checking site someone made and that one fails to show this firmware for other than the KA1 & AE2.

There is a difference for which devices a FW is made/usable, and for which it has actually been released. The PCB identifier contained in some of the file names in the update folder can help you to determine whether the FW is compatible with a certain device. If this is what you want to know. The 4.2.8432 FW for mark 3 is compatible with my Kobo Touch B (but I did not install it).
