I've been longing for a remote to flip the pages on an e-ink reader for a while now, that might get me over the fence to buy Kepler Pro if it supports that.
That would be fun. The Onyx should be able to interface okay via Bluetooth. The iffy thing is if the page turn buttons will map.

Yes, my suspicion is that the problem would be more getting your reading app to recognise these buttons, than getting the firmware to pass them through. But the chances of finding a Kepler owner (a fairly small pool at the moment) who owned such a device, to try them out together, are fairly slim.

If you can map the Onyx page turn buttons to +/- volume (you can on the Boyue), then it might work.

What about this?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...remapper&hl=en

You can check if it recognizes Onyx buttons. If not i might be able to write an app just to do this (once i receive my Kepler )

That BT remote has volume adjustment buttons. If your favourite reading app supports page flipping with volume buttons (like Google Play Books does), no remapping/additional configuration is going to be needed.

I've e-mailed banggood about availability of Kepler Pro, as soon as it's available I'm ordering it together with the BT media button.

Yes, I think the only way to know is to try.

I was not talking of an app that mapped to volume buttons. There are custom FW for the Boyue or Onyx (can't remember which) that turn the page-turn buttons into volume buttons. But I imagine there are apps that would map page turn buttons to volume. It seems an obvious function.

The Kepler actually has a toolbar widget/icon for swapping the page-turn buttons to volume-control and back again. But the fact that you can control volume with page-turn buttons is no indication as to whether a given reading app will allow you to map BT volume buttons that it likely won't even know exist onto page-turn commands. That, I think, would require an app that is (i) explicitly set up to accept BT inputs & (ii) allows button remapping.

Sadly, that's probably true. Just tried using the BT speaker to flip pages in (normally volume-buttons-friendly) Google Play books on a regular tablet -- no cigar.

A side note, if anyone is wondering, Xposed does work and I've had no problems. Do know if you decide to do it, you'll be prompted to dl a different BusyBox than the one provided in the normal apk. The prompt will provide the relevant XDA FAQ thread to dl.

That's great! So are you saying it works to flip pages on Kepler Pro? What other uses did you find for it on the plane?

Yessir! Kepler Pro + FBReader app. I haven't thought to try it out on any other apps though. I did not have to do a thing apart from connect it to BT in the settings & ensure BT is on.

Fantastic news! My whole reason to switch to Android is the Google Play Books, I would greatly appreciate if you could check it if works with this BT remote.

Did you have a chance to see how does BT affect battery life?

I found bt on the t68 was very battery intensive but I only did one test. might have been a fluke.

external keyboard helper might help mapping buttons.
