And which I find I'd read before, so skipped a lot. Far too melodramatic and with too much just dumped in it. E.g. cloned humans brought to maturity in less than five years. And that's just a throw-away. Disappointing.

Next up: The Poisoned Bride and Other Judge Dee Mysteries translated by Robert H. van Gulik. A Fictionwise freebie I picked up back in 2004! I think I might have read this one before.

Got sick of the juvenile selfishness of the main character. I don't mind my heroe's starting out as boys, but to keep him that way with no growing up for a whole trilogy is more than I want to read.

Finished The Girl Who Would be King by Kelly Thompson. I enjoyed it almost as much this time as the first time (found a few nits to pick at).

Next up, The Invention of Nature: Alexander von Humboldt's New World by Andrea Wulf.

I'm currently reading The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith. So far, it's OK at best. I'm not sure yet if it's a novel or a bunch of short stories loosely tied together.

Please keep us posted about this. It was highly recommended to me but I could not get into it and stopped reading after the second or third chapter.

I plan to finish this. But I'm not finding it all that good. The good thing is that it's a lot of fluff and it's not all that long.

It's the MR Book Club selection for February if you want a reason to try it. We are trying to have it finished by the 20th to discuss.

I doubt it is a book I will finish. I do not know if it was the writing or the story/plot itself but I just could not get into the book. Then I have enough to read right now. I am trying to finish my Goodreads challenge for this year. I am 3 books shy of having read 50. Then I have so many others I am interested in reading so not really interested in going back and picking up something I was not fond of the first time.

You've read 47 books in less than 2 months? That's better than I could do.

If it wasn't the fact that this is a fairly easy read, not too long, and for the book club, I might have stopped reading it.

Well if I had not lost my job I would not have gotten so far. I will admit 4 of those books were cookbooks I rated, 1 was a knitting book and 1 was a 50 page short story.

I'm close to that at 46, but there were a lot of graphic novels (4/day) in the first week of the year.

Graphic novels really should not be called a novel as most of them don't have enough words to be a novel.

But how long do you spend looking at the pictures? (A picture is worth a thousand words... or so they say.) To properly appreciate the art takes time ... but maybe I should stop, since I seem to be having this urge to mention certain magazines that are only ever read for the articles.
