Is the Kindle2 fugly

Ok all you people that think that your reader should be a fashion accessory. You have said you wouldn't buy a Kindle because it is "fugly" (the word most used).

So, what about Kindle2? Is it still fugly?

Personally, it looks "ok" to me... then again I never thought Kindle1 was fugly at all. Different sure, but that doesn't mean bad.

The new Kindle 2 does seem to have alot of wasted "white space". The frame around the screen and on the sides of the keyboard. But, I assume this was in response to people saying that there was nowhere to hold the Kindle1 comfortably.

I so want a Kindle 2... but my Kindle1 works fine so no reason to get it.

I'm coming up with excuses to present to the SUmkIII:

You can have the old one.

Your cousin can have the old one.

One of the kids can have the old one.

Your mother can have the old one.

We can sell the old one on EBay.

We can sell the old one to a friend.

Feel free to borrow any or all of the above...

Sell the one you have now at about half price, then use that money to go towards a new Kindle. I think the new one looks OK, except it still has all of those tiny buttons that a fumble-fingered gal like me would inadvertantly be pushing all the time. I'd probably have the thing calling China - and it's not even a phone!

I don't think it's fugly, it just looks to much like a iPod with buttons (and lots of white).

There is now nothing 'unique' about the Kindle.

You do realize that the keyboard buttons on the kindle do NOT do anything unless you are in some type of mode where you need to type letters? I hold the thing (v1) at the keyboard and I'm sure the keys are pressing alot. But, it has no affect.

I think the Kindle 2 looks better then the Kindle 1 (IMHO).

Is that all you got? I got alot more. However, after telling my wife to return the iPod touch she got me for Christmas because my iPod Gen4 did all that I needed and $250 was too much to spend on it... it would be a very hard sell.

Until it's in my hands, I'll reserve judgement. The Kindle 1 is much uglier in pics than in person, for instance.

Still, I've already got a few people interested in buying my old one for around 250-275 so I'll get a new one, probably. The battery, better performance, form factor, and greater gray scale are all attractive. Enough to pay less than a hundred bucks for, at least.

You do realize the white is so that it 'disappears' while you are reading a book? Much like reading a paper book?
