New 13.3" Onyx Boox. Rumours, prototype specs, first pictures

My Onyx Boox Max doesn't boot anymore. It stays with a Power off display and if I try to boot it the light just goes on for 20 seconds and then stops again.

I haven't found anything in the forum yet. Any way to do a factory reset or to motivate it to boot up again?

Try to enter recovery mode:
To enter recovery, press and hold BACK button and POWER button at the same time for 5-6 seconds. then move to factory reset; press POWER button to enter.
If it doesn't work, you could also save the last update into sd card and then apply it in recovery, but I'm not sure about that.
Otherwise, it could be a battery problem. Is it fully uncharged?

Unfortunately that didn't work either. I have to send it in. Booxter didn't respond yet but we will see.

Update of Note app available!
Turn on wifi and go to the new update app.
Download and install the new note app.
Changelog (AFAIK):
1) Shapes now work
2) EXPORTING pages
3) new background patterns
4) new function that, if you write anywhere on the screen, puts the words along lines and let you enter even text from keyboard.

That's cool, and motivated me to install the new firmware.

Unfortunately, I'm not able to install the Note app update: the download progress bar goes at best to about 10%, then stalls and says "Error" (sometimes with an error message "Download link is empty or error."). This may be due to my internet connection being quite poor.

Anyone knows if the app updates can be downloaded directly somewhere and pushed to the device (eg. with 'adb install')? They don't seem available on the ereader-store.de download page, nor on the official onyx-international.com one...

Edit: ok, never mind, it was apparently an intermittent problem, which yielded to patience and multiple retries. The updated Note app is definitively nice

General changes:
- New. Status bar tme can be clicked, to do manual refresh of the screen
- Repaired. Problem of library scan stuck sometimes
- Changed. A2 key switch, removed from the system contrast settings (adjustment of the contrast settings currently is only supported in the Neo and Neo 2 apps)

- New. The front light adjustment up to 20 levels (valid for front-light models only);

It's official. It is from the European Onyx store. But I can say that back-forward buttons don't work!

It's official.

I'm so happy with the new update (version: 2017-01-08_12-30_1.8.1_4c96264) which fixed some problems.

I have no problem with back-forward button.

They've just upload a new version which fixed buttons problem!

It's been six months since I bought Max. Although 1.8.1 is not perfect, it meets all my needs now.

Initial version: sleep to death, but usable
1.7x: No death any more, quite happy
1.8: much faster but with some small issues, surprise with the optimized speed
1.8.1: small issues fixed, satisfied

If you don't care about global contrast setting, 1.8.1 is a must update.

Depending on your needs, there seems to be a dealbreaker with 1.8.1.

Apart from the first one, the Recently Read items on the Home page no longer have text as well as icons for each item. It is imposible to tell from an icon which pdf you are looking at, so it is useless.
