Got my Aura One from Chapters Wednesday.

Initial impressions, pretty happy.

1) The Overdrive with my public library works beautifully on the device. Probably the thing I'm most happy about because this will save a lot of money.

2) I'm still getting used to the large size, ideally would have liked the width to be a bit smaller to make it more comfortable to fit holding with one hand, but it's ok.

3) Display looks great. I can see tiny imperfections with gradient on the bottom, but I try not to look to closely for them as it doesn't detract from the reading experience.

All in all, pretty happy with it. It came out to around $202 shipped, which is even better than the list price. I guess due to the strong US. dollar.

I'm looking forward to being a part of this community. Go Kobo!

Damn. My KA1 has probably failed to go to sleep yesterday.

I was reading a book which would take me around 6 hours to finish. Now the Activities page says I've been reading this book for 30 hours, and my average session length is 258 minutes. My reading speed is 0.1 pages per minute.

I've had the same problem with KSM 08 installed. Removing KSM made that problem go away.

Ah, well. It doesn't really matter. Statistics are only off for this book, and 30 hours in the grand scheme of things don't matter. And I suspect I'll be resetting this reader once or twice in the next four to five years. (Assuming it lives that long, obviously.)

LOL--Just checked out the detailed reading statistics on my Aura One--it shows I've been reading my current mystery novel for a total of 69.9 hours...The actual amount of reading time I'm sure is closer to 1/10 of that or 7 hours.
I have no idea of how the stats are being calculated or why it is off by such a degree. I have fallen asleep with the reader on once in a while, but that should only add 10 minutes here or there.
I don't think my reader has accidentally turned itself on in the short while I've had it as I haven't experienced any battery drain issues (knock on wood).

I decided to order an KA1 through chapters.indigo.ca since they showed in-stock, and the strong US dollar makes it a good deal even with shipping.

I placed the order on Friday, January 20, but they still haven't shipped it yet. Is that normal to delay that long?

I bought mine a couple of weeks ago. Ordered on the 4th, shipped on the 5th to California, delivered on the 10th. Maybe if the order is placed just before the weekend it takes them a bit longer to sort through all of the ones they get through the rest of it?

I finally received shipping notice tonight. I guess I'm spoiled with Amazon's faster shipping. I'm hopeful I have quick shipping to Texas rather than the February 14 that the order is quoting.

Barring unforseen weirdness at the border with customs you should have it much sooner than that. They seem to put a long delivery date for that rare occasion where something does get held up at the border, but from posts on here 3-5 days from shipping is more typical for actual arrival time to the U.S.

I agree--from everything I've read here, most folks in the US that order from Chapters experience fairly quick delivery. I think my case is the exception--My husband ordered one for me for Christmas--shipped on the 23rd of December and didn't get here until January 3rd--a total of 12 days in transit, so not too bad, especially considering the Christmas holiday. But I was really anxious before it arrived. Definitely worth the wait though!!

I'm also in Texas - ordered mine from chapters-indigo on the 18th, received shipping confirmation on the 20th. I also ordered the wrong cover, which I have received, ironically enough, as I have not as yet received the KA1. Frustratingly, the shipping info has been updated on the chapters website and says that a delivery was attempted on Monday morning at 11am. Which is not true, as I was in!

More frustratingly though, it says on their website that delivery was attempted and a card with pick up instructions was left. Not the case (I've been all round the outside of the house and looked under the door mat too!).

So I've just been on the phone to Canada and obviously they can't do a great deal from their end right now but they are getting their billing department to ring me tomorrow morning. The hope is that they will be able to track which carrier the package was handed to at the border and so provide me with a US tracking number.

As I ordered the wrong cover (at the same time, but under a separate order), I believe the KA1 will have been sent via UPS Ground, as this was how the cover arrived on Tuesday.

Just so ironic that I get my cover which I have no use for whatsoever, and no KA1.

Hoping I have good news tomorrow at least...

Anyone want a beautiful red Kobo Aura HD cover?

Lol - well, I've tracked down my (hopefully) lovely new reader!

A lovely lady just phoned me back from my local post office right now and she has put it on the shelf so I can pick it up after dropping my kids off at school just after 8 tomorrow morning. So excited! Really hoping it lives up to my expectations, and looking forward to borrowing loads of Overdrive books on it.

I joined the local library last week and signed up to the Houston overdrive which has just tons of great books available.
