The reset all the digital clocks part sucks, though. I'd think that turning off the big stuff would give her enough of an idea. ??? What do you guys think? Hitch |

I would turn off any electronics, then turn off the breakers. And there should be a breaker box in the apartment in case of a tripped breaker.
If she hears a neighbor yell who turned off the electricity, then she will know there is a problem. Or should I say every apartment I lived in had a breaker box. |

I would recommend turning off each individual appliance, rather than the master switch near the fuse box. The reason being, if there is an unauthorised connection leeching power, it might be AFTER the master switch.
When testing this kind of thing it's important to test the exact thing you need to know - which is whether some other appliance than the ones you know about is using power. |

After running multi tests yesterday. We have found out it's the baseboard heaters. Hubby refuses to listen even after showing him the results. I also found out I have a smart meter and can view daily usage online. By corresponding weather with past dates of high usage it confirmed to me my findings. The baseboards pull 3 Kilowatt together or 1500 watt each.
I also found out he had multiple times turned on the baseboard in his room without me knowing. So on hot days I'm running the a/c he has the heat on in his room. ![]() So there's your energy hog. My husband. He still argues that a/c runs more but on past hot days like the 21st it was 72 we barely used any energy and the a/c was on and off all day on Economy mode. The graphs don't lie I told him he says B.S. No more test running he had to sit without his game for 20 minutes and that was unbearable enough. Sent from my Nexus 7 |

Now I do know that sitting still at a computer is an easy way to get cold, even in a 72F room. But wearing a jumper and thick socks are a lot cheaper than turning on an electric heater! |

That's just stupid. You've got a power drain that is costing you a lot of money, at a point where you already don't have much. If I were in his place, I'd be relieved to know it's me, and not some criminal leeching power for their own use. Last edited by Katsunami; 01-25-2017 at 10:31 AM. |

Family rant coming on.
I can't believe that woman has her daughter convinced that I slapped the daughter years ago. I never touched the kid. The teenager wanted a stuffed animal. So teenager said she would just ask my then boyfriend (now husband). I told her I would ask him. She got all butt hurt because she thought I meant get it for me. Her mother over the years turned that into a physical slap. Her mother didn't like me for 2 reasons. One I am 10 years younger than my husband. And 2 I disrespected her former sister-in-law by not waiting a year to marry my now husband. Husband is the one that set the date. He called one Monday and said do you want to get married this Friday or next Friday. Out of respect for my husband, I can't say anything to that woman that happens to be his sister. He told me to be the bigger person. Due to family stuff we have to see her this week. I can't believe after all the crap hubby's first wife put him through, his sister thinks of her as perfect. I know the sister knew what was going on, I'm just not sure if the sister was helping with the crap. Heck, the niece knows and she was only 13. I don't understand it, I'm not sure I want to. Not that I really give a rat's behind what his sister thinks of me, but you would think being his sister she would want him happy. I can guess something happened after his former wife left. All I know is when his first wife left this world, his sister and her family was staying with them. A few months later, the sister had moved out at her brother's request. Then I come along and big brother starts turning his sister down for money. Part of that stemmed from he didn't have any for various reasons. Oh and yes, husband and I have talked about his first wife. Heck, our first conversation about her was when we announced we were getting married and his sister was all you need to wait. Poor man, he didn't understand his sister's thinking. As far as his mental state, she (first wife) was gone (although way more expensive than a divorce) and he was ready to get on with his life. He had already boxed up all her pictures by the time I moved in. Now the kicker is I have been married to him at the moment 10 years longer than the first wife. You would think his family would realize we are happily married. But no, his family won't. I couldn't believe what he told his niece last night about his sister. He gave an ultimatum. Either accept my wife or stay out of my life. Needless to say there hasn't been much contact in the last 26 years. I don't like that because I have a feeling, it will be a nice to my face only. I don't deal well with passive-aggressive bull. Time will tell. Part of me wants to be protective wife but it isn't worth it. And I thought I had the crazy family. Long rant over. |

ok i need to rant about how sneaking food companies have become by not changing the price but changing the quantity, it's so frustrating and they're never round amounts so now you have to buy multiple packs and always have a little left over. i know it's petty but it's so frustrating.

Glad you found the power drain. Though I was hoping it was a wiring error, not a husband doing. Know I am still thinking of you. I would so like to advise counseling because it seems the two of you are going through a rough patch. |

On husbands, I learned last night that it is easy to misinterpret what someone is feeling.
I thought he was hurting over what his sister is doing. As it turns out, it wasn't hurt. He is furious with her. The flip side was he thought I was hurt by her actions. Not hurt, mad enough to want to guilt trip her to tears and beyond. Or just tell her where she can go. And yes, I have the ammo. Now out of respect for my husband, I will be the better person. But I had to tell someone. This was handy. And I still get mad every time I think about what first wife did to him. (Not the dying part, before that.) It makes me even madder that his sister knew but put that woman on a pedestal. I didn't know first wife per se, but I knew of her and had actually seen her on numerous occasions. |
