Scanned PDF books to formatable EPUB text
I get only the images from the pdf file into epub.
So how do I get the scanned books into text that I can set my preferred fonts on? Do I need to use another program for example something that converts the scanned book into doc format or something? I managed to do that but the calibre wouldnt take the doc format On a side not I also wonder about real images in the book that illustrates somthing for example, can I get the formatable text convertion AND the images? |

Checkout the "Similar Threads" at the bottom of this page. There are some suggestions in tho on software which do a decent job at converting the text - but in general PDF is one of the hardest/worst formats to do a straight conversion.

The problem is that the PDF is just a bunch of graphics. Unless you want to try OCRing these images, you may as well forget these PDF exist.

I abbyy finereader the pdfs. You can crop and convert into epub directly in that software including images. Text is clean so you can change fonts etc, works great if you have a good reading app like AI reader. Then you just configure text in that app to your liking.
Thanks for answers. |

![]() Your first post stated the text changed sizes. That is not my definition of clean ![]() The Editor (or alternate) is what we all use to clean up after OCR. None are perfect. The original font can trip up the best (and most agree ABBYY is one of the best). |
