Thanks for the good wishes everybody.

The hospital did eventually ring last night. The operation took longer than expected due to some unforeseen complications but, regardless of that, was a success. I went to see her last night but she was pretty tired after the anaesthetic. I'm going back in an hour or so. She's already texted to ask me to bring sweets, so I guess she's feeling a little better

I've decided that I'm going to treat myself to a new game to play during my vacation next week. I just can't decide what to get. I want to play Anno 1404 again, which I have on disc (somewhere), but my new laptop doesn't have a cd/dvd/blu-ray drive. Or maybe a point-and-click mystery horror, I've got several on both my GOG.com and Steam wishlists. Or maybe something that isn't on my wishlists.

It seems the fever is back. A little bit of the right side of my throat seems scratchy. After a week of no fever I thought it was over and done with. Ugh!

Just her annual check-up. But they have to keep her long enough for her to go to the bathroom so they can check that. Hence, nervous parents.

I'm feeling a little bit better than yesterday. I did manage some sleep, though I kept waking up. My dry and raw throat has turned into a normal sore throat. Which is a bit easier to manage. I'm also not feverish anymore and my head feels less cottony.

Luckily, today I haven't much more planned than doing a load of laundry and pack a couple of things. I'm hoping I can take a nice, long nap. It's strange but when I'm not feeling well I find it easier to take a nap in the afternoon than to fall asleep in bed at night.

I'm at my vacation apartment. It's really nice and spacious, though a different lay-out than the online floor plan shows. I've unpacked my bags and the only two things I want to do tonight is try to get my Chromecast to word and figure out how the sauna works.

The only drawback is my cold and throat infection. I'm feeling a lot better, though the cold temperatures outside made my throat hurt a lot. But at the moment I can't smell anything and taste very little. Which sucks, since I've bought my favourite food and snacks and deliciously scented shampoo, shower gel, bath bombs and wax tarts. Which since I cannot enjoy them or cannot enjoy them enough I find a bit of a shame to use or eat. Hopefully my sense of smell and taste will return soon.

Making gingerbread cookies. The first batch is in the oven. It's a shame my sense of smell hasn't returned yet, though I can taste things much better than yesterday. Hopefully I can smell again by Saturday, when I'm going to bake cookies again.

Enjoying the view.

Temperatures dropped to -5C degrees during the night and now all the trees are white and the water around the quay in the marina has also frozen. I'm now waiting for the mist to clear a bit more before I'm going out on the balcony to take some pictures.

Last night I was looking out of my bedroom window. Below my apartment is an opening in the apartment building for a little canal and in front of the building is a little bridge crossing the canal. Last night I saw about a dozen rabbits crossing the bridge. I know that there are a lot of rabbits around, but I hadn't expected them to come in the areas between the apartment building; it's mostly gravel and paving, with only some grass patches in between.
