I want to work on my 2017 TBR list but I can't. Hubby is using the desktop. He's on there from the time he wakes up till he goes to bed.
The other day he was napping and I snuck on trying to backup three months of Amazon freebies. He woke up and was cranky because he couldn't play his game. My Calibre library is on the desktop. I can access it outside of Calibre but not update it and it's not the same without the program with its covers and synopsis. Sent from my XT1528 |

Re: lanterns and black-outs.
We were without power (which means no heat and, because we have a well, no water) for more than a week following the Halloween blizzard of 2011. The schools still had power and were still in session, so my wife and daughter found a room in a nearby hotel and I rode it out with Shadow, our German shepherd. I made lanterns out of inexpensive LED flashlights and clear/frosted plastic cups. I stood the flashlight on end and put two cups taped together on top to act as a diffuser. Not terribly bright, but a set of batteries would last two or three nights. We were out of power even longer the next year, after Sandy, but I had refined the lanterns and made out pretty well. |

I would love to get the Google Home, but it doesn't look like Google is in a hurry to release it in the Netherlands. Amazon doesn't deliver their Echo or Dot in the Netherlands either. However, I just saw that they are sold in Argos in the UK. Since I'm planning a trip to the UK later in the year I might just pick one up when I'm there.
No, I just see that that won't work; the app isn't available in the Netherlands. I could download it when in the UK, however I'm not sure if the app will work when I'm back home. Even if it still works I'll have a problem when getting a new phone or tablet or when I set either back to factory defaults. |

Preparing to go to my sister's place. Her dining room table will be delivered this morning and she asked me to open the door for the deliverers. It should be delivered between 10am and noon. Hopefully they're early.
It's a bit drizzly and I've debated with myself whether to cycle over there or take public transport. When cycling I'll get wet. However, the walk to the busstation (nearest busstop to my sister's neighbourhood) is about as long as it takes me to cycle over to her place. All in all it would take me over twice as long to get to my sister's place when taking the bus. So I've chosen to get wet/damp instead. |

Sounds like you'd have gotten just as wet while walking to and from the bus! I hope you took a good book with you, so that you enjoy any wait.

About 5 minutes after I got there the delivery guy came, 10 minutes early. He carried the table upstairs, put it together and by 10am he was on his way again. I didn't even have time for tea. Luckily, on the way back it had stopped drizzling and I had the wind in my back. Sent from my SM-T713 using Tapatalk |

I have just taken a look at next week's weather prediction and I am now very happy that next week I'm going on vacation in an apartment with central heating. Temperatures are predicted not to rise over 0C. Which also means I had to change plans.
In the slow month on January the supermarkets on vacation parks don't stock a lot of perishables (lettuce, salads, meats, fruit, etc), on Friday they have more when the busier weekend starts. I've stayed at this park several times before during quiet periods of the year and because of this I usually went to the nearby town on Thursday to stock up on some perishables and other items the park supermarket doesn't sell. However, I know myself and I don't fancy waiting at the bus stop with freezing temperatures. I had already planned a trip to the Lidl to get fruit, vegetables, etc on Sunday. I've just added a couple of extra thing, so hopefully I can make through the week with what I'm taking with me and what is available at the park store. |

Sat waiting for my phone to ring. Mrs B is in theatre having a fairly large operation and I'm just waiting for the call to say she's out and I can go see her.
