Same down here, Pooh. It got colder last night than it was supposed to, so I woke up to an icy windshield.

The most dependable meteorologist down here is calling for 2-4 inches in our area between Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

The baby (my son's youngest) got hold of the temperature control on our freezer and all the meat and fish we had went bad by the time I noticed it. Great timing, kiddo.

Oh, no. That hurts. And then there's getting rid of the smell in the freezer, too.

I can't complain for the first week in January. It's currently 25° (Alexa says real feel of 7°, but it seems warmer than that). Yesterday was in the 40s. No significant snow in the forecast. Every day we lurch closer to spring. Admittedly, it's a long slog with a lot of weather between now and then.

Anticipating mass panic, I did my Saturday grocery shopping this morning at 7 am before work - quite the surreal experience - like being in a Twilight Zone episode - huge grocery store with 3 customers in it. I snagged one of the last loaves of bread in NC!

Tonight temperatures are set to drop to -6C, and tomorrow they won't rise over -2C. On Saterday from about 2am until 1pm about 2,3cm snow is predicted. Not a lot for most of you, but I expect that in the Netherlands it will bring the railway system to its knees.

I don't mind, when it has snowed or is snowing it's usually a quiet day in the store. And after two months of it being very busy I don't mind an easy day.

MODOT sucks. They are lazy, full of excuses and full of it.

They had plenty of time to treat the roads and once again they didn't. Now the roads are a mess. All they have to say is stay off the roads. We got less than a inch of snow there is no excuse for this.

TN DOT, NC DOT would laugh at them and their B.S. excuses. I've never seen such incompetence. It wasn't this way growing up....It ridiculous.

Did you get milk and eggs too? For some reason that what everyone buys around here if snow is coming. Sis says they must all be craving French Toast.

I think the most important thing to buy is water, toilet paper and batteries.

Last snow we had I was in a mad house at Walmart. This guy was walking around carry a case of canned pineapple. He was hugging it like it was a teddy bear someone was trying to take away. It was the oddest thing. Everyone else scrambling with milk, eggs and bread in their cart and he just walking around like that.

How horrible Tom! You are now going to have to routinely check your temps till he is out of that phase. You can get gadgets that have an alarm if the temp gets in the danger zone. Amazon sells them. I've had it on my wish list for years.

Milk and eggs make perfect sense. Most children need milk everyday. Eggs are easy to cook.
So stocking up on the staples.

Not planning for a storm but at the moment,
1 loaf of bread and enough stuff to make at least 10 more loaves.
A little over 2 gallons of milk
20 eggs
18 gallons of water + 30 pints of water (If need be, we can get 21 gallons at a time)
And 31 rolls of toilet paper. (Found it on sale recently)
Note: that is a week's worth of milk. We go through between 10-15 gallons of water a week. We refilled it yesterday.

Huh. I guess I normally shop so that I have 2-3 weeks of everything I need (cat food, litter, etc). If something gets lower than that, I put it on the shopping list to get more! So I never pay attention to storms upcoming.

The only time I would have even needed to shop would have been the end of October when the freezer was empty. ( Yes that was planned to coincide with vacation.)
Except for perishable stuff, we have at least 3 months supply.

Yep here too. Cat comes first. Grandma just got her a Bissell SplotClean to replace the Green Machine that broke. Some new food and litter yesterday. Mom spoils her grandcat

We too do the camp food well when got money for these occasions. We also have a SUV with four wheel drive. She can go off road if need be. Mountain Tough. So we are never snowed in.
