There is already a word to describe our Readers. Star Trek came up with it. The word is padd.

If you want to use that word to describe your reading devices, Jon, you're very welcome to do so. The problem you'll have, though, is that nobody else will understand what you're talking about . Words are about mutual comprehension: using your own special words for things rather defeats the goal of comprehension, don't you think?

eBook is used many places. It's become the way to spell eBook. eReader was like that ever since eReader format eBooks were created. eMail may not yet be correct but maybe someday.

A company can choose to spell the way it wants to in a trademark (there's also eBay), but e-book, e-reader, and e-mail are not trademarks. There's no reason for a funky capital letter after the e.

My first thought was because some people are silly.
And I have always spelled it ebook, email, and ereader. So does my autospell.
The only time I capitalize is for something like badEreader.

If reader or book wouldn't be capitalized anyway, why should a capital letter suddenly appear when an e is put before it?
iPad is Apple's tradename for its tablet, not a generic term.

Yes, thank you for the rec. I have put the book in my Amazon Wishlist. A bit pricey, so I might wait for a price drop.

I just finished Tryst by Elswyth Thane (came up in another thread a while ago and I got intrigued) and enjoyed it a lot, and also bought and read The Ghost And Mrs Muir by RA Dick when it came out in ebook form, which was also very good.

I'm not sure what the draw is with these type of books, but I do like them

Well, my wonderful godson bought this for me for Christmas - A Fine and Private Place by Peter Beagle.

Bless him for bothering to find something I really wanted (made easier by a wishlist) instead of just getting something generic.

I am going to save it for 2017 and start the year off with something good.
