I have been given an image for an Aura Edition 2, but I haven't uploaded it yet. And I can't at the moment. It will be a couple of weeks before I can.

I don't think you will be able to make an image from the update package. It doesn't contain all the files for the full image. If what you meant is to update the image to contain the latest firmware version, you should be able to do this. But, why? The firmware is easily applied afterwards and doing this doesn't really give you anything.

I know that the update files do not contain everything, but I am planning to see what I can do with it because I think I have an idea to get this to work. I am planning on be able to create an image automatically from the first 15 mb of an actual image and an update file.

And also, thanks in advance for the image.

The images contain proprietary code. It belongs to Kobo. Posting them in a public place would be illegal. Sending the links out on request is an attempt to help owners of the devices without exposing being to blatant. Kobo know what is happening, and, so far, have chosen to ignore it. If that changes, I will reconsider my stance.

To get the image, on windows, I am not completely sure, because I have not used it for quite a while. On Linux:

Plug in the SD card.
Type lsblk.
Find the parent item for the KOBOeReader partition. This will most likely be something like /dev/sd_ or /dev/mmcblk_ or /dev/disk_
Type dd if=/dev/thedevicenameyoufoundearlier of=koboimage.img
Your image will now be in koboimage.img in the current directory.

Thank you very much! There seems to be something else not going: I dd'ed the image to my sd but the led blinks, the Aura only flashes once, then it freezes. Maybe i am doing something wrong?

Bad SD Card. I'm now using a brand new sd and everything is going ok.
