I wanted to let you know that The Writers Coffee Shop has changed names and urls. It is now called STARS library. The new url is http://www.starslibrary.net. The old url (http://www.twcslibrary.net) is still working so far, but I expect it to stop at some point.

I did notice that any new chapters posted after the switch were not picked up when using the old link.

- No covers from smilies on royalroadl plus label debug output from royalroadl.
- Replace twcslibrary.net with starslibrary.net
- New site by GComyn: www.fireflyfans.net
- New site by GComyn: www.utopiastories.com
- New site by GComyn: sebklaine.net
- New site by GComyn: firefly.populli.org
- New site by GComyn: archive.shriftweb.org
- New site by GComyn: trekfanfiction.net
- New site by GComyn: www.wuxiaworld.com
- New site by GComyn: www.lushstories.com
- New site by GComyn: fanficauthors.net
- Minor fix to adapter_squidgeorgpeja from GComyn.
- Changes to adapter_wwwarea52hkhnet from GComyn.

fanficauthors.net support isn't perfected yet--it currently requires user/pass for all stories, not just Mature stories.

I've replaced the twcslibrary.net adapter with one for starslibrary.net. The new starslibrary.net adapter should recognize and use twcslibrary.net URLs (and ini sections) for drop-in replacement.

Hi there,

Thanks for the STARS Library update

I have downloaded and installed using linked above, but Calibre still says 'Latest Version installed 2.7.0 - 14 Dec. 2016'

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you...

I don't always remember to update the version number for test versions--especially when I'm traveling it seems.

Thanks for the reply (especially at this time of year ).

I did not express myself clearly...
What I meant to say is that the 'new' version (V? - 22 Dec) appears to be the same as the 'old' (V2.7.0 - 14 Dec) version. Not just the version number, but the date and the behaviour too...

It does not recognise STARS Library: no job starts when I use a link from Stars.

Thanks for your help (don't rush... long weekend )

You can try installing it again and making sure you restart calibre.

If I did upload the wrong version (not impossible, but not likely), it will have to wait until next week. Network here is abysmal.

I just added your updated plugin into my Calibre and it works with the Stars Library website. Thank you for all of your hard work.

JimmX: I thanks for the support. I fixed the image things thanks to you, I dont know why it didn't occur to me that it was an internal thing. Same thing for the smiliey issue, I never though about looking internally for it. I'm getting forgetful in my old age, or just making leaps past the easy way of doing things...

The stars fix works great, and it means I have a method of making modifications to anything else in the future, so thanks.

The multi-line issue wasn't just br tags, but there is multiple paragraph tags as well in some, I'll look to see if the replace_br_with_p works in royal road, but it didn't work perfectly in at least 2 of the sites (as I had already tried and was using it) so I'll just stick with my old method. A lot of times what I was running into was empty paragraphs, or paragraphs with br in them IE <p><br></p> or something similar.

I haven't done anything with fichunt, as I just haven't got around to it, and I'm at relatives now for the holidays.

OK! Next! GComyn you are AWESOME! fanficauthors works great- makes keeping the novels organized in calibre much easier and I like fanficfares download format so much better. I haven't gone through the others-

EXCEPT!

Xanxia here I... oh wuxiaworld here I come...
wait... it... no...
Damn, it doesn't work.

Status
Errors abound:

Bad
'utf8' codec can't decode byte 0x89 in position 18: invalid start byte
http://www.wuxiaworld.com/col-index
(and just to be specific, every other fic I try on the site has a similar error)
Except 7 killers, it got:
bad character range
http://www.wuxiaworld.com/7-killers

but ... uh, well when it works, it'll be awesome.

BTW, any other wuxia/xanxia sites that you add are an excellent choice. readlightnovel.com is a great one. *grins* Sometimes reading the translations gives me headaches, but some of the stories out there are just awesome.

Now,

StoriesOnline has recently changed the code for their last page in a story to include an additional footer <ul class="bottNav"> that should be cleaned/removed.

I'll look into that, but it will be a few days. Camping for Christmas is interesting, but not good for network.

I just had a look at this, and that should already be stripped. And it is stripped for the all test case books. Can you post some examples where the footer is kept? PM me if it isn't a link that should be posted.

Hello again,

I'm currently reading an ebook (no kepub) on my Kobo which I downloaded with FFF. I noticed that there are sometimes huge blank spaces between two paragraphs - depending on how long the paragraphs were, and how many paragraphs fitted on one screen-page.

Then I looked into the epub and saw that there is an additional br-tag between each of the paragraphs, which probably causes the spaces. I have the following in my personal.ini:
Code:
replace_br_with_p: true
The story I'm speaking about is here: story on AO3

The second part of the story which I downloaded from fanfiction.net doesn't have the additional break between paragraphs. This story is found here: story on fanfiction.net

My question is how to remove these blank spaces. Is FFF even the plug-in to do this or do I have to look into Calibre itself? I have no idea about the options for epub-output so I don't ever look there.

Anyway, thank you for looking into this.

Firefoxxy,
Thats an example of what I mentioned the other day. Here's how I fix it:
Right click on the epub and go to edit book.
Open up one of the file htmls on the side IE File0002.xhtml
Use the find function (CTRL-F) at the bottom to open the find/replace
in the find put in <p><br/></p>
leave replace empty. in the mode area change it to all text files.
click replace all.
Save.
Done.

Now, the formatting may change a bit from story to story and you may have to find what is causing the multi-line issue, but this one is <p><br/></p> (basically adding an extra empty paragraph between each paragraph)
If the replace_br function isn't active, then the story looks a little different internally, and you have to do <p> </p> (there's a space between those p's) since it's just empty paragraphs... and yet the second chapter works just fine (no empty paragraphs) the inconsistency is the authors fault in how they posted it, but most people don't always understand what they're doing. x

Gosh, that has completely gone by me. Thank you Atherton for the qick help and explanation.

Edit:
Okay, so I didn't want to open a book and manually remove all the br-tags in every chapter. So I looked into the Calibre-conversion option. I did two things (not sure if that makes sense or is necessary but it helped me and I thought I might as well post it for others with the same problem.

In the conversion window I checked 'Heuristic Processing' and there selected 'Delete blank lines between paragraphs'. In the 'search and replace' section I put
Code:
\<br/\>
in the 'search regular expression' line and I left the second line blank. Then I hit the add button. The conversion was fast - and as far as I can see deleted all the br-tags.

For future reference if you have enough to manually edit when you do a find/replace like I mentioned and select all text files it looks through the entire book, so you only have to do it once per book
Your method works well if you're replacing the epub but I'm not sure if it'll screw up Fanficfare future downloads. Not at home to check that. It also is a lot faster for multiple files, but be careful about just removing <br> because depending on how the books setup internally you could get one solid paragraph.
