I got the Oasis in the mail yesterday. Great screen, slightly better than the Voyage, and I would have said my Voyage screen was just about perfect in terms of lack of color/brightness variation. The color temp of the lights on the Oasis is a bit better to my taste (warmer) and the contrast is a bit better.
Only thing is the Oasis I got has a pinprick flaw in the etching on the glass.. I am not going to worry about it as it's outside of the reading area way up at the top of the screen. But if you turn the light way up in the dark you see this one little pinpoint that's too bright. I haven't had that on any of my previous lit devices. I'll have to see, there are various stick on kickstands, I might be able to get one of those, but I'm not crazy about sticking anything on that might affect the finish. My only other thing is I wish the back of the main part of the Oasis came with a leather piece across the back that matched the case color you got.. for one thing it would help avoid scratches, but on the other it would make it easier to grip. So I may end up attaching something to the back. Overall weight, weight balance, and size seem a big improvement. Kind of amazing to put a Paperwhite, Voyage, and Oasis next to each other and see the progression. I don't have anything really old but the progression from K1/2/3 would be amazing too considering all these devices have had the same screen size. The Oasis seems like it's probably 1/2 the size/volume of the K3. |

I agree thin has gotten out of hand. The Oasis is a bit better in that aspect than the Voyage IMO, but the Oasis could use a less slippery finish for the back side where you hold it in one hand without the cover.

I find this to be true of new Oases only: after a week or so of out-of-cover use (in my use pattern, which is admittedly heavy) I find that enough skin oil etc builds up on the surface to give it a better grip, i.e. enough traction that you don't really need to *grip* it at all.
