![]() Translation: "An error occurred. Please try again." That isn't right. ![]() @dsmid, when you say "the translation has stopped working because something has changed on the Amazon side", what do you mean? Last edited by eschwartz; 08-05-2015 at 10:34 AM. |

is it possible to add the menu items of the more options menu to the first select menu where the dictionary / wikipedia tab is shown?
i often translate stuff, so it would be much more comfortable if it's done with a single click. greetz Last edited by MaCXyLo; 10-11-2015 at 09:22 AM. |

This looks cool. I just tried it on my PW2, I get the google translate entry. When selected, it appears to do something, but the result window only has the "about translate" link and nothing else. Detected language stays "Unknown". I'm trying to translate FR -> EN. Does this extension still work?
Thanks |

Does this hack works with the new jailbreak method? I used it a lot before Amazon blocked old jailbreak.

The method used to put it into the Kindle's keystore has nothing to do with its later function. This particular add-in's behavior **might** vary with the device and the firmware version. "Hack" is just a four letter word. |

An exercise in utter silliness: Today, I googled about using google translate on kindle, saw this thread, got too excited, applied the whole jailbreak procedure just for this, dropped the kindle from the desk while putting the usb cable in/ out... and well, the kindle in question is a Voyage! -- I could go on but that should be enough
![]() Hence, the "obvious" question for me (sorry, it may be somewhat irrelevant in this thread though): Is there a way to use Google translate on Kv? (I mainly prefer to use the older kindles with buttons; got that device recently, primarily to read foreign language books --due to the vocabulary builder. Google translate would be great...) |

Thanks for replying knc1! Here is what I did:
I first applied the jailbreak to Voyage (the very one you provided, with the link above), it completed without any problems and I updated the kindle back to firmware 5.8.7.0.1. Then, under this thread, I downloaded acxe_7.zip, put the Update_acxe_7_install bin file in the Kindle directory. In the Kindle, the "update device" option remained greyed out though (and the bin file disappeared from the main Kindle directory when I connected the device to the computer again). By that time, it "finally" appeared to me ![]() Basically, nothing happened, Bing is still the default translation service, no change in the appearance of the menu options etc. I hope I did something wrong. Is it supposed to work on Kv otherwise? That would be great indeed! |

First post of jailbreak thread, step #8, open spoiler, read section: 'a'. This is a package in the filename format of: update_*.bin You MUST use MrPI to install these packages. That is: Put the package file in /mrpackages, run MrPI. Report back on the results. |

So it is the way to add a search button to the reader's interface?

Knc1, Thank you for the additional instructions too:
I ended up reinstalling the jailbreak again (which turned out to be not necessary at all. Just in the probably rare case someone else has difficulties there: In Step 8.a of the jailbreak: the unarchiver I used created a folder with the name kual-mrinstaller-1.6.N-r13408 in the Kindle directory. It needed to be deleted: Only the contents of that folder should be in the Kindle). After that ;log mrpi worked. I also installed KUAL (put the KUAL-KDK-2.0.azw2 under the documents folder.) After that, put the Update_acxe_7_install bin file under the mrpackages folder. Opened Kula/ Helper and chose "Install Mr packages". The screen blinked, "user interface was initiated." So I assumed that the bin file was installed. After that, I put the gtranslator file under system/acw. Restarted the device. Still no luck though... (I tried both of the gtranslator files) Last edited by mrevent; 02-22-2017 at 01:07 PM. |
