If you want to put the db file ina location other than the library folder the way to do it is with an evironment variable, as described here: https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/cus...ment-variables

I have two questions about CALIBRE_OVERRIDE_DATABASE_PATH. 1. I would like to use it to copy books from one library to another. Is there a placeholder variable for the name of the library available? Otherwise i can not address different libraries with it!? 2. Does this path also address the journal file? |

You cannot use it to copy books, as it will apply both to the target and src library and yes it takes care of the journal file as well

A placeholder variable for the name of the library (or another useful identifier) which can be used in CALIBRE_OVERRIDE_DATABASE_PATH, would solve it and make it easier to deal with different libraries in general and also in parallel. It is not only useful for network drives, it can also be useful to have the database at a ssd and the books at a slower hardrive. Shall i make a feature request? |

			OK.

Currently i am using linux and add a symbolic link from the metadata.db in the calibre libray to my ssd for each library. This works fine, but i am not able to use it for the journal file, because it is recreated for each transaction and the database files are not in a separated directory. Do you or anyone else have spontaneously an idea for a workaround? |

No allowing config file to execute arbitrary SQL would be a recipe for data loss.
