I am having issues with Scribd searches after installing the latest plug-in 2.4.0 update. From the log it appears to be locating matches at Scribd, but it's not linking them. I have tried several books that all have the same issue. No issues linking books to various other libraries (Overdrive, 3M, OneClick, etc). Just Scribd. Version 2.5.0 - 06 Dec 2016 Fix search at Scribd not finding any books due to website change. First attempt to support external authentication for new OverDrive sites. Untested and will probably need further work. |

I had to reinstall Calibre & the plugins I use. I forget how to set up "Keywords for book discovery". I went to "Customize Plugin", entered the keywords, saved it. But nowhere do I see the option of searching by those keywords. Thank you for your plugin.

If you do not see this then open the configuration dialog again and make sure that your search keywords are there in the bottom left corner.

While I had entered the search keywords in, I had forgotten to enter and check off my libraries. I ( and I am sure others) really appreciate that you always have time to help people out with your plugin not even counting the fact that you are always improving it. |

Request: Use cached Overdrive info for all libraries

Now that most libraries have moved to the new Ovedrive format, this plugin could take advantage of the fact that the same book has the same ID in all Overdrive libraries. For example, I create a new book by "James Patterson" in Calibre for an upcoming release and search for that book. The plugin then searches the first library for books by "James Patterson" (which gives a huge list), then goes through that list trying to match the title. It then repeats this for every other enabled library. But if the plugin finds the book at the first Overdrive library searched, instead of searching for author/title on other Overdrive libraries, it could just search directly for that book ID at other Overdrive libraries. This would really speed up searches where there are multiple Overdrive libraries and the book has already been cached for at least one of them. The next really big step would be to allow users to export/import the cache of books for Overdrive libraries. The export data should be very similar to what is stored in the "Discovered Books" data, and the import would load the books into the same data, but with no library associated. This would require a small change to the UI of that dialog to "show imported books", which could then be added/matched against Calibre, and the Overdrive ID used in searches for books just like the cache from libraries the user has configured. In theory, this would allow creation of a massive cache database that would show every book that is available via Overdrive, assuming that we have enough users of the plugin. |

So, it looks like you do cache the results within a single search, but not from search to search. What I was asking for was using the cache initially, instead of running the author/title search, which can take quite a while for some authors.

Changing things to work the way that you propose would not make any difference in plugin performance in most cases. When searching for a single book it would still need to make one request per library. Whether it is a search request or a lookup of a book by ID makes little difference. When looking for multiple books by the same author the current way the plugin works is always better.

I keep getting an error message: Spoiler:
I recently got a new laptop and had to install Calibre and the Overdrive plug in. I hadn't even gotten around to adding OneClickDigital as a library yet but I kept getting the above message. So I thought if I did add OCD, it might help. It didn't. I get the same message. The plugin will find library books, but the only way I can tell is to search through the detailed log. The books never show up in "Manage Discovered Books". Here is the detailed log: Spoiler:
I'm guessing I'm doing something wrong, but have no idea what it is. Any help would be really appreciated. |
