Hi guys, I just bought the Aura One today and sucessfully installed the KMS08 and KOReader. Everything is great, but I was confused a bit during the installing process. Should we open a thread like "for noobies" about the installing steps with pics/vids so that people who are not so tech-savvy can follow easily?

Hi Steve, congrats on your e-reader!

Can you tell us what part of the installation was unclear for you?

My bad, because I could not found this KO Reader Wiki before I install to my KA1.

Everything is there.

Hi. Just got my new Kobo Glo HD and enjoying it with the Koreader. There's just one thing bugging me: How do I change the one-word dictionary option to make it behave like when I try to highlight many words? (there's the option like Wikipedia, add note or search etc...) Or at least turn the one-word dictionary function off?

With v2015.11-674, it appears that the "one word dictionary" long press selection gives me the "Highlight", "Wikipedia", and "Search" buttons, as well as a Greyed out "Add Note" button, in addition to the word definition.

A multiple word selection gives me a box with buttons for "Highlight", "Wikipedia","Search", and "Dictionary", as well as greyed out buttons for "Add Note" and "Translate".

So, are you asking for a "one word dictionary selection" greyed out Translate Button?

Luck;
Ken

Sorry English is not my first language so my description got a bit messy up there. Anw it works exactly as you said. While I can understand the reason for its implementation, in my scenario when I loaded some big dictionaries, it can take pretty long for a word to be found and can be really annoying when I accidentally select a word. What I'm trying to do is: Selecting 1 word only bring out the options, not automatically search for meaning in the dictionary, or maybe a feature suggestion is to limit the range of the search to a few pre-selected dictionary and an option to search in other dictionary should I choose to do so. I hope my point is clearer this time around.

You can use the ">>" arrows to bring up the dictionaries you have loaded. When you have the dictionary that you want as default, just tap the dictionary's name and you will be given the option to set it as the default dictionary for that document.

There should be a way to set the preferred dictionary as a default, all documents or even apply some sort of precedence list. It sounds like it would be a good Feature Request (FR) at the project on Github.

The Kobo firmware versions could effect KOReader, but as far as I know it is working with all of the Kobo releases. KSM may need the patch tshering added for the new kobos. The current versions of KOReader are at http://build.koreader.rocks/download/nightly/

Hi. I am unable to use the Wikipedia function when looking up words. I have the latest nightly build running on a Kobo Aura H2O.
I have verified that wifi is enabled. I have also verified that the HTTP to HTTPS issue is not the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

You may have to change the Wikipedia site to the one for your language.

screensaver issue + Dictionary not loading

Hi. Why Koreader is still unable to show the book covers in the screensaver mode properly?! The newest and the most annoying sub-menu option is the option for stretching the cover. Not only doesn't it stretch the cover in the screensaver mode, but it also makes fun of the user by adding some vertical and horizontal rectangles around the cover image so as to fill the blank spaces!
Besides, some of my dictionaries couldn't be loaded in the new Koreader. No matter how big is the file, without any specific reason, four of my dictionaries are now useless.
Any help on the above-mentioned issues are greatly appreciated.

It may be more an issue with how your ebooks are constructed. My epubs, some with smaller cover images, are looking fine as full screen images, even those that start as one forth of the screen dimensions. You can tell that they are stretched, but there are no "vertical and horizontal rectangles around the cover image". Now if you do set the "auto stretch" option, you can get such bars, (I think this option was intended to replace the proportional display option.)

Are they Stardict format dictionaries?

The PDF covers are shown in a weird fashion, no matter how big is the image size of the cover. And yes, there are stardicts. There were up and running on the previous version of Koreader, but not working at all in the newer one.

Thanx again Ken,

PDF Cover Issue

Dear Ken,

I just fixed the dictionary issue. The EPUB covers are shown correctly, but the PDF cover screensaver could not be fixed, even by the assistance of a combination of Photoshop, Acrobat Professional and...
The covers are not aligned center, and they also could not be stretched. For some other PDFs, the covers are totally ruined.

Best,
Ebrahim
