Deleted files, now only have books on kindle

Is there a way of putting all the books back into calibre

I've tried to copy and paste via kindle docs of my files directly into calibre but it doesn't work, loads the path rather then digest the book properly

I had it synced in a Dropbox folder and made a mess as I was attempting to create collections to manage it better but accidently hit delete in calibre. And then my Dropbox started syncing. I managed to pause but now calibre is empty.

I have copied the books from the kindle root directly into the calibre directory in the mean while.
Again nothing shows

With the Kindle connected (USB), is it recognized?

If Yes, Switch calibre to Device view (device Icon only appears when connected)
Select books: Add to Library (or similar words)

++1, and...

... disable Dropbox syncing before you do this and keep it disabled until you get calibre's library back in place. Then, in the future, disable Dropbox syncing before launching calibre and don't reenable it until you've quit calibre.

thnks guys

the reason i have dropbox (library here) is because it syncs to my nas server etc
and i suppose its backup method.

Note that if you are using Dropbox then any file(s) you deleted/changed in the last 30 days can be recovered if you go in via the web site.
