I perused the first page of my wishlist. All were marked down except for two which had a regular price of $5.95. They are still $5.95. So there must be a threshold low price beyond which Audible will not reduce in price an audiobook for this sale.
<snip>
I'm going to have to make a paradigm shift--I spotted two short Audible audiobooks, with regular prices of 83 cents each, which audiobooks are now 47 cents each. I don't know how to explain the incongruity.

I never buy from these sales; the prices are too high for me. My self-imposed limit is no more than $3.00 per book using either Whispersync or a credit.
I will go up to $7.00 if the book is nonfiction and a suitable length of time to justify the extra cost.

I've been doing audiobooks since the days when they were only on cassette or CD (Audible since 2004) so prices these days should seem super reasonable to me, but I find I've gotten "cheaper" on what I'll spend on a book these days. I don't have a set limit, but I won't spend what I did "back in the day" either.

Here are a couple of sci-fi Whispersync deals. Both audiobooks are $1.99 each after purchasing the Kindle books. I spotted this in the Sci-Fi thread. Thanks jselby

$2.50, converted to USD. U.S. Audible $8.94 (sale price).

Very high ratings at GoodReads. This is one that I'd like to have.

How hard is it to "move" to the U.K. and then "move" back to the U.S.?

That's not quite how it works with these two Audible sites. You can have an account on both, but they are not inter-linked. If the title is available for U.S. purchasers on the UK site you can get it. For instance, I got 2 of the 8 freebies Audible UK offered a couple of weeks ago. Only 3 of the 8 were available to me (I didn't want the third). I have two separate playlists, though, and they don't cross over. If I want to download a title in my UK library I have to sign out of the app and sign in using the UK option. Once it is downloaded I can switch back and it will still play but when I remove it from my device it disappears.

This is good info, thanks. I've never tried Audible UK after getting hate mail from Amazon when trying to use Amazon UK for a few Kindle books.

I actually set up my account at the suggestion of the Audible help desk! Probably the most useful advice they've ever gave me. I even used the same e-mail address. I already had and Amazon UK account (so I could buy the new Doctor Who a year before it came to America) and now all of my accounts sync up with addresses and such. I've probably got 30-40 titles in the UK account. I haven't even signed up for the free trial, but they offer it to me all the time.

I think the UK site is the only one this will work on (dual accounts, that is). I know Audible AU was going to force me to transfer my library to sign up for an account there (which, of course, I didn't want to do) like the Kindle accounts make you do.

Thanks. Very helpful.

I was hoping that it would just be a matter of making a change in my account settings. I can see that it's definitely more involved than that.

I don't know, now, if I'll have time to do all that mentioned, for this audiobook (it's nearly 2 a.m. here, and I want to make a YourClassical post before I go to bed), but I'll have your information for the next time.

The strange thing about the Audible sites is they act as if both the UK and the US sites are linked. For example I can get Whispersync audiobooks from Audible US based on my Amazon UK library, plus when I go to my library on Audible.com it has a button to deliver my audios to my Fire or my apps but of course it can't, I download the audiobooks and load them into iTunes, and also sideload them into my audible android app.

We have a new free short story / series intro over at Audible. If you're interested in "One Dangerous Night: Beneath the Secrets Prelude" by Lisa Renee Jones you can get it for free here. It's Whispersync compatible, and the Kindle version is also free. This title is classified as "Romantic Suspense," in case that sort of thing isn't your cup of tea (and the title and cover aren't a dead giveaway - forgive the pun). I've no idea how long this will last so if you're interested don't delay.

Quote:
Blake Walker left behind the ATF when the drug cartel he was hunting cost him the life of his fellow agent, and fiancée. Now, two years later, he's working with his brother at Walker Security, but he's living fast, hard, and wild - until he reaches the ultimate high: revenge. And he's close, so close he can taste it. He's one meeting, one woman away from being inside one of the money laundering shells the cartel operates. One Woman. One dangerously hot night.
Enjoy!

My understanding from talking to a couple Amazon reps a few years back Audible was a step away from merging the two stores. The content providers would not allow Audible to fully merge all titles into one uniform store front so they left the underlying setup in place in case they would be able to go forward with the merger in the future. All you need to do is switch from USA to UK through manage your Kindle on Amazon's site and you will be able to purchase content from either store. As long as you have one email\password combo all the content from both stores should show up on Kindle and Audible apps together.
