Which free promo are you on - Groupon or HSN or LivingSocial?

Instead of getting 3 mo @ $1.95/mo, you might be able to get two free months.

Anyway, let me know which promo you're on and we'll go from there.

Before signing onto the $0.99 promo, try and get the free LivingSocial promo. I'm currently on that one. I went from the HSN to the LivSoc promo without any hitches.

I read the t&c for the Liv Soc and it said US residents only (I'm in the UK), but i'll double check before doing anything. I've just retired so I'm trying to delay resubscribing for as long as possible.

Yep, country does make a difference and I keep forgetting about that.

As to whether or not something else will come along soon, there's no way of knowing. TravelZoo generally runs 2 promos a year. Not sure about the other coupon sites.

The quandary you find yourself in is that you'll lose a free month in the hopes of getting a multiple month offer that may or may not pan out for you.

As for me, the only time I'd sacrifice a free month is when I could replace it with an offer of 2 or 3 free months. I'd never give up a free month in exchange for a paid promo. But that's just me.

What you guys need to do is to create and use an algorithm, so as to make the most efficient choices.

I highly recommend Algorithms to Live By, by Brian Christian and Tom Griffiths. I have it only in audio form (it was in an Audible sale or promo recently).

The tube guy, at least, should have plenty of credits lying around so that he can get it for nothing.

Use of the Bayesian Theorem might help, too, but I don't know anything about it.

$20.99 -- The Terranauts -- TC Boyle --> 20.9 hrs --> literary

Quote:
A deep-dive into human behavior in an epic story of science, society, sex, and survival, from one of the greatest American novelists today, T. C. Boyle, the acclaimed, bestselling, author of the PEN/ Faulkner Award–winning World’s End and The Harder They Come.

It is 1994, and in the desert near Tillman, Arizona, forty miles from Tucson, a grand experiment involving the future of humanity is underway. As climate change threatens the earth, eight scientists, four men and four women dubbed the “Terranauts,” have been selected to live under glass in E2, a prototype of a possible off-earth colony. Their sealed, three-acre compound comprises five biomes—rainforest, savanna, desert, ocean, and marsh—and enough wildlife, water, and vegetation to sustain them.

Closely monitored by an all-seeing mission control, this new Eden is the brainchild of ecovisionary Jeremiah Reed, a.k.a. G. C.—“God the Creator”—for whom the project is both an adventure in scientific discovery and a momentous publicity stunt. In addition to their roles as medics, farmers, biologists, and survivalists, his young, strapping Terranauts must impress watchful visitors and a skeptical media curious to see if E2’s environment will somehow be compromised, forcing the Ecosphere’s seal to be broken—and ending the mission in failure. As the Terranauts face increased scrutiny and a host of disasters, both natural and of their own making, their mantra: “Nothing in, nothing out,” becomes a dangerously ferocious rallying cry.

Told through three distinct narrators—Dawn Chapman, the mission’s pretty, young ecologist; Linda Ryu, her bitter, scheming best friend passed over for E2; and Ramsay Roothorp, E2’s sexually irrepressible wildman—The Terranauts brings to life an electrifying, pressured world in which connected lives are uncontrollably pushed to the breaking point. With characteristic humor and acerbic wit, T. C. Boyle indelibly inhabits the perspectives of the various players in this survivalist game, probing their motivations and illuminating their integrity and fragility to illustrate the inherent fallibility of human nature itself.

I decided to just do the Audible 2 month for 0.99 as for the others I'd need to set up an account and living in the UK I wasn't sure if they would accept me.

The 0.99 works out at $1.14 for me (so Audible doesn't care that I am a non US resident) but that's still a bargain so thanks again for listing the promo codes on the first page

Audible sent me a mail to tell me that my wish list is 50 % off, and I guess my wish list isn't the only one. It's not as interesting as the whipersync deals but it might be of interest to some readers here.

An almost sitewide 50% off list price is going down at Audible. I looked through my wishlist and saw that the savings off membership prices are only $2-5 dollars. Downpour who just did a similar sale had way better prices and there books are DRM free. My credit card was weeping after that sale.

Yeah, that's really exciting, Audible *YAWN*.

But it is available to us "ListenerLight Inactive" people. That's a plus.

I perused the first page of my wishlist. All were marked down except for two which had a regular price of $5.95. They are still $5.95. So there must be a threshold low price beyond which Audible will not reduce in price an audiobook for this sale.

I consider the email that I got from Audible about this as spam. That's what I think of this "sale."

Thanks for posting - added to OP

As usual, the price reduction is off list price, not member price. This offer expires 14 Dec.

For one book I've been thinking about it's still cheaper to buy the Agency priced eBook and get the Whispersync deal than it is to buy just the sale priced audiobook.

Yep, and I'm sure it applies to quite a few other books too.

I never buy from these sales; the prices are too high for me. My self-imposed limit is no more than $3.00 per book using either Whispersync or a credit.
