HTML files to eBook
I've been reading the "Step-by-Step Conversion Guide", to help me prepare and convert several HTML files into a single eBook of some kind. Reading the section "Preparing HTML for Conversion" is fairly straightforward, until the sentence "Once your HTML is ready, add it to Calibre".
I'm not sure where to do this. In Calibre, am I still on the "Convert Books" screen, as I can't seem to find an appropriate menu option. Or do I go back to the Calibre main screen, in which case I'm not sure which option lets me select my HTML files; "Add Books" and "Edit book" both suggest I already have a book, which I don't. And then the Step-by-Step Conversion Guide says "Then highlight the story and click the button Convert E-Books". Again, I'm not where the "story" will appear, and how to initiate the conversion. Any help is very welcome. |

Use the "Add books" function. You can select the HTML file to add. Or drag and drop the file into the main section calibre to add it. Then, convert this to epub.

As far as Calibre is concerned your HTML files ARE a book (that happens to currently be in HTML format).

Thanks for that.
I've tried adding my first HTML file, and it is stuck at 0% with the message "Reading metadata and adding to library (1 book)". Could it be spidering the entire html structure? Can I limit it for testing purposes? 10 mins later: Yes, it appears to be spidering the site files. Is this something I can control? Last edited by iantresman; 12-05-2016 at 06:55 PM. |
