Interesting Times is by far the best Rincewind book I have read. Very enjoyable.
Next up: Death's End by Cixin Liu, the final book in the Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy that starts with Three-Body Problem. Last edited by Dazrin; 12-02-2016 at 11:47 AM. Reason: typo |

I finished up Rogue One: Catalyst. It was pretty good and I'm all set for opening night now.
I am starting the Rain Wild Chronicles by Robin Hobb now. I have enjoyed her previous works and look forward to this one. |

Now for something completely different: The Last Kingdom by Bernard Cornwall. I think I got this as a free special offer back in March, but it looks like I forgot to note it down in my records. Now noted. |

I got about a third of the way through Bourne Ultimatum before I had to put it aside... mayhaps I will try to continue reading later.
Meanwhile, I read The Misbegotten Son: A Serial Killer and His Victims - The True Story of Arthur J. Shawcross by Jack Olsen. The narrative was well-written, and the story intriguing, to say the least: this guy was all kinds of whacko, to the point where he was virtually undiagnosable by the psychs. Unfortunately, the scan done on this book was horrible. Almost as criminal as Shawcross himself, in fact, and this was a major impediment to my enjoying the read. Meanwhile, I am into the third book of the Gap cycle, A Dark and Hungry God Arises: The Gap into Power by Stephen R. Donaldson. |

Just finished the two most recent 'Peter Diamond'
stories by Peter Lovesey. I love these books, and I would say the burly Superintendant from Bath, is my favourite fictional copper. Missed out on the first of these whichw as published some time ago, as I had a lot of things happening in my life; stumbled upon bothj of these and had to get them, of course! The titles are 'Down Among The Dead Men' and 'Another One Goes Tonight' in release and reading order, and they are the 15th and 16th respectively in the series. If you are not familiar with Diamond give them a try! |

Six chapters in and it is certainly intriguing. How did they get where they are, especially from where they were? How are the stations determined, and so forth? |

After that, I also read Cousin Kate, a very meh/flat offering from Georgette Heyer, and two audiobooks - Favorite Stories of Christmas Past (enjoyed it a lot) and More Favorite Stories of Christmas Past (not as enjoyable as the first one but still good). My next-up reads are what I hope to complete before year-end: 1. The Center of Everything by Laura Moriarty (I've already started this and it's in the first person present tense; I can already tell our relationship may be quite brief ![]() 2. The Plot Against America by Philip Roth (I'm curious how I'll fare with this one; the vibes are not good) 3. Redemption by Laurel Dewey 4. Silence by Thomas Perry 5. Terra Incognita by Ruth Downie (I really should put this book out of its TBR misery; I've begun it more than once, IIRC) |

I was having a really hard time trying to decide what to read. I started 4 or 5 books, read a few pages, and put them down. Just not right now. So, in the end, I decided on a Georgette Heyer, The Foundling. Nothing like a good Heyer Regency to get you past the reading blahs.

I was an avid reader of Science Fiction all through Jr. High and Sr. High. After that only rarely did I read any SF. Anyway just recently while waiting for the book I wished to read to become available through my local library I read The Collected Stories of Arthur C. Clarke Volume 3. I found that I quite enjoyed the 'Tales from the White Hart' stories. Or rather reading them again as I recalled the general gist of them from long ago.
One in particular caught my attention, The Next Tenants. To provide a brief summary Harry Purvis recounts the story of time spent on a Pacific atoll where he and a team of British scientists were there to monitor the first test of a thermonuclear device by the US. While there Harry unexpectedly encounters a scientist that is teaching termite colonies to make and use tools. The reasoning being when mankind self districts termites would be a good choice to inherit the Earth. This story reminds me of another story of a similar theme that I would like to read again if I could identify the title and author. This mystery tale involves a scientist that plays god to an ant farm. When the scientist dies the ant colony wonders what has happened to god and so starts to build a tower (like the Tower of Babel) to investigate what has happened to god. |

There were ants in City but the situation was different.
I just finished The Big Sheep by Robert Kroese a SF mystery that's a little Philip Marlowe and a little Philip Dick. Next up is Colson Whitehead's Underground Railroad and perhaps a few short stories from Japanese Tales of Mystery and Imagination by Edagawa Rampo, the first Japanese author of Western-style mystery stories, who took his pen name from Edgar Allen Poe. |
