If you are seeing the same issues when you use the Kobo desktop app, it would suggest the issue is not with your ereader since the desktop app downloads data through your computer's internet connection. This would leave either your internet connection or an issue on Kobo's end as the problem area. Given the number of reports, we either have to assume a lot of people are having internet issues or Kobo is having an issue.

Occam's Razor time. It's either your internet connection or Kobo. Hmmm.... lots of people with an issue? One site with an issue? Your choice. Either would leave your ereader as an innocent victim of your laughter.

Ugh. Clearly you have a point, but I don't see why you had to be so mean about it.

How was I mean about it? Other than the rofl which was more aimed at the thought of blaming many internet connections compared to a single common point.

Or was this due to referring to your ereader as an innocent victim? If so, I apologize and will remove the rofl.

Same here... unable to finish sync without Network Error

I'm going to find out how to do a factory reset of my Kobo Aura One. Something's definitely not right all of a sudden.

Go into the settings, then the "Device information page". Near the bottom is the option to do a factory reset. There are other ways that are intended for when you cannot get to this screen. They are detailed in the user manual. They achieve exactly the same affect.

The error message has gone from my Glo now too, everything is back to normal and working great.

I'm concerned about firmware updates and not sure whether receiving a message of a 'network error' means I won't be able to download these. I'm also just curious to know why this error keeps happening.

Unless the error is happening as soon as you start the sync, you will probably be OK. The first thing that is done is to check for a firmware update and download it. You will be able to see this happening. If the download fails, there are other ways to get the firmware and install it.

Well, a factory reset fixed my syncing issue after I accidentally messed up a database while trying to run a pragma integrity_check on it. So it appears that's a solution.

Sorry I couldn't get you more diagnostic info davidfor. I'll try again if the device gets into a bad state again.

My Kobo Aura One sync completed successfully today. I didn't do a reset or anything like that.

Just checked and mine completed a sync successfully, so perhaps the problem at the server end, assuming that is what it is, is fixed.

Glad everyone seems to have this sorted now. But seriously Kobo, what are you doing?
