I had been using 1.7 for PC successfully with the new OverDrive until last night, when this thread had me try to download a book and it no longer worked. Well, I can live with 2.0; I'll have to.

If for some reason you don't see if the audiobook is abridged or not, you could try going to overdrive.com and finding the audiobook and checking the publication details. It does say there about the edition.

Another update - although the T1 will now let me access my holds, loans, etc., I just tried to download a book and it just said "loading" for so long that I gave up, disconnected, and used the Reader for PC software to download and sync it.

I still have not had any problems using the library with the Sony Reader for PC software. I remembered that a few years ago we had some discussion about differences in downloading library books using the Sony software and different internet browsers. As I recall, the procedure was a little different with different browsers, and we did not all get all the same popups along the way.

The reason I brought this up was that I use Internet Explorer and since the switch to the new Overdrive some, but not all, books have a step in the download process where there is a popup that says something like "you must have Adobe Digital Editions to download this book", I click OK and then the book downloads into Reader for PC. I wonder if people using other browsers are getting the same popup?


I still can't download a book directly on the PRS-T1. Maybe I will try asking the library's help just for the heck of it - I don't anticipate a useful response

Thanks. I was on 1.7 and getting the #2038 error recently. After the ADE 2.0.1.78765 install, downloads are working again.

I noticed that if log into the library using my Sony reader, when I go to Loans, instead of "download", the books on loan now say "add to app" as if they think I have the Overdrive app.

I'm curious - are there currently any other epub readers besides Sony that are supposed to be able to use Overdrive directly (not via the Overdrive app)? (I haven't kept up with the ereader market so I don't know if there are any current direct-Overdrive-access epub readers.) If such a reader exists, has anybody here tried one with the new Overdrive?

If you prefer reading in 1.7, you can always add the books to the Library in 1.7. The books will display and read in 1.7 - I've been doing it for months (since Google switched to requiring 2.0).

The Kobo Aura One does Overdrive.
