Tolino have a UK site, but do not officially support their ereaders in the UK. Even though I am in the UK, I had to get my Tolino via a Euro importer.

Yes, I agree. I have a Kobo and like Kobo's software and modifications. But then, I was also willing to order from eBay.

If I were purchasing from a store, I'd likely still go for the Nook over the Paperwhite.

The only thing that appeals to me is that it's waterproof, but I don't want to deal with B&N customer service again. Kindles and Amazon are just easy to deal with.

I usually read on my phone these days anyway. So many ereaders and I use my phone.

Then you can go with Kobo. Two different models that are waterproof. Teh Aura H2O and the Aura One.

The H2O has a 6.8" screen and the A1 has a 7.9" screen.

B&W covers? I download all books to my old Kindle Keyboard and from there load into Calibre PC. I get color covers in Calibre and when sideloaded to tablet or phone. Does the paperwhite work differently? Is it because the PW downloads a newer format?

Ok, I'm returning with one more question. Can someone recommend case as I got my paperwhite without one? I'm noting 2 popular kinds, the first is the magnetic with the strap on the inside and the full leather one that covers the bezel.

Any recommendations? Also, is there reasons to go for something by amazon over the ones that cost $2-5 on ebay*?

I'm cheap so I would say no reason not to use ebay.
Or look on Amazon for 3rd party covers.

I'll second Cin.

I have the official Kobo cover for my Aura, but having researched some of the third party covers, there's things I like better about them. 'Official' does not have to equate to 'best'.

That still leaves me with not knowing which model is better? The leather ones that cover the bezel or the ones magnetic ones that stick to the back of the ereader? Are there any advantages/disadvantages to those?

I've used both types and I much prefer the ones that clip on the the Kindle. Magnets don't really hold them on. You push the Kindle into the curved portion and it clicks into place simply because it's a tight fit. I've been using these for years and they weigh a lot less, are very sturdy and do last for years. The ones that cover the bezel work well and offer the same protection but they weigh more and they (yuk) cover the bezel.

The magnets, by the way, are there to keep the cover closed and to wake the Kindle when you open the cover.

The frugal way to waterproof your paperwhite in the bath (or at the beach or pool wherever water might get splashed on you). Get a box of Quart Sized Ziploc-type baggies (assuming you have that approximate size available in your local store). Presuming you know to put the logo of the baggie to the rear when inserting your Paperwhite, and that you know how to seal the baggie <grin>, they fit OK and work great!

What does waterproof mean? I have a kindle and can read in light drizzle with no problem. In a heavy downpour I'm either under shelter or running for it with no time to be reading. In general I can think of no reason to read while swimming under water and I doubt any reader would be happy (not to mention having to dive for a dropped book). I've read on rare occasion in the tub and it is just a matter of being careful not to drop it but if I was worried I'd just use a baggie. Just how waterproof is "waterproof" and how much difference to the non-waterproofed readers?

I dropped an e-reader in the snow and broke it. Snow is my issue. Or maybe a rain puddle, but I've never done that. It would also protect it if one of my kids had a spill on it. It would just make it less likely to break. It isn't that I intend to get it wet.
