[Android] Calibre Companion on eInk Reader
On my rooted Tolinos (Android 4.0.4) I'm using Calibre Companion and have the problem, that i cannot see the Setup possibility besides "Connect"
Is there any possibility for editing any ini file or similar? I donot want the possibility to connect to Calibre server or Cloud. PS: Sorry for my bad English |

Have you checked the "Attempt color correcton for E-Ink devices" option? It is the first option in the "Other" section. Your description of the option(s) you can see imply that you might be running an older version of CC. What version are you running? |

My apologies: my last post was both wrong and written in some haste.
The wrong bit: unless you are in the beta program you cannot upgrade to 5.1.1. You should upgrade to V5.1.0.5. Download the APK on your tablet and copy it to your Tolino. You do not need to crack it. The haste: I think I didn't understand your question. Are you saying that the 3-dots menu is not there at all? There isn't an empty spot that you can tap? That "CONNECT" is up against the right edge of the screen? If so, then something on your device is telling the Google libraries that CC uses that there is a hardware menu button on your device. Have you tried pushing all the hardware buttons to see if any of them bring up the menu? If there is a space between CONNECT and the right side, what happens if you tap it? Note that there isn't anything I really can do about this problem. I have two different eink devices and on both the three-dots are plainly visible, with or without e-ink corrections. I can't debug something that I can't see. |

I am having the same issue with my rooted Tolino Vision HD 4, firmware 1.9. I have just bought Calibre Companion v5.2.2.3, latest version, via Amazon Underground and I don't have the symbol (three dots) for preferences next to the connect button aswell. No hardware button is replacing the preference button and activated eInk correction is not helping either. Have you found a solution or workaround yet?

The Google development library, not CC, controls whether or not the 3-dots is displayed. If it isn't there then the Google library thinks there is a "better" way to get to it, either a hardware button or a general soft button somewhere. There is nothing CC can do about it. |

After installation, I am being asked to agree to send anonymous collected data to CC and hinted to possibly change it in the preferences under the other tab. In this popup I have the possibility to agree or go directly to preferences. That's the way how I enter preferences. And if I dont agree to disable the message, the info is popping up everytime I start CC. Tolino is using Android 4.0.4. Maybe CC isn't fully compatible with that version anymore?! I see that most of the apps in stores have a minimum requirement of Android 4.1 now. But thats just an assumption of someone who has no experience in writing apps.

What does the button at the bottom of the device do, both when pressed and long-pressed? What happens when you tap on status bar at the top?
I ask because that display indicates that Android (Google library) is hiding the app menu, which as far as I know happens only if it really thinks that there is some alternate way to access the menu. Unfortunately I have no idea what it might be. |

The home button works as a home button in the tolino app but in the android environment it works just as a back button. No difference by long pressing, short pressing or double pressing. CC just hints to press again if one want to shut down the app.

How do you reach the preferences in other apps?
