Do you still have the device with the books loaded on? I think you might be able to load to calibre from the reader ( I ended up having to do this after one of the e-book shop closures over the last couple of years)

I don't have my old Sonys anymore, but anyone can download the Sony Reader app, which works fine on my PC without connecting any device. I gave up years ago on Adobe (yes I had downgraded back to 2.0), since it didn't allow me to open the .acsm files anymore, and Adobe never responded to my requests.

EDIT: and Calibre has no problem removing the DRMs of those books I buy as epubs and open with Sony Reader, whether bought from Kobo or others. I never download kobo bought books as kepubs, since I run most books through Sigil before polishing them in Calibre.

In that case, you will have to log in with each of the accounts for downloading the book. A book from one account will not work in another after the first download. (Which, obviously, is the entire point of DRM.) The DRM-ed book has to work in ADE for Alf's tools to be able to clean it.

I never ever used DRM infested books on my devices. The first thing I always do when I buy a new book is cleaning it

Yes, and that's why I stopped downloading DRM'd epub books. The last time I wanted to download a book, I tried logging in into my Adobo account. Password incorrect. Ok, let's reset the password then. Email sent. A day later: still no email. Ok, probably used my other email account. A day later, still no email. Hmm, I only use one of the two email accounts. Ok, let's try to make a new account then. Email address already in use. Twice.

I ended up making a third account, downloaded the book, cleaned the DRM (immediately, I know how the software works) and completely ignored Adobe DRM infested books ever since. Unless it's a social DRM, I'll look at Amazon. If it's not there, I simply won't buy it. Plenty of other books to go around

I've just received an e-mail from Norève support that they have received my return. The e-mail says that since the sleep function doesn't indeed work correctly on the case, they're going to remove it from that model.

Fine. That's your prerogative, to remove it instead of fixing it with a ferrite sticker like every other manufacturer has been doing since this problem was first discovered with the sleep/wake readers.

They also say that tomorrow, they're going to dispatch a new case which has the sleep function; i.e., the one with the locking clasp on the right.

The return e-mail says I want a refund.
The printed e-mail conversation included in the return says I want a refund.
The cover letter says I want a refund.
The e-mail I just sent as an answer says I want a refund and not another case.

And all of them contain the bank account details.

I hope *SOMEONE* there actually understands English. If they send out another case, it'll cost me €10 to return it again.

Unbelievable. I can get *really* angry if support doesn't read what is sent to them. I've worked in support myself in the past, and I know first hand how annoyed customers can be if they have to repeat themselves over and over because they either get a non-working solution proposed multiple times, or a solution that's not fit for their situation, because support doesn't read the text.

Someone actually read something over there.

Noreve has cancelled the order, and refunded €55, so they kept the shipment costs, even though by European law, that is not allowed. If following the rules exactly, they should even have returned the €9 it cost me to ship the case back to them.

Fortunately for them, €14 isn't worth it for me to start a fight over. I don't have the time or the inclination. Also, I think those rules are stupid, because it can cost a store thousands to pay for shipping back and forth.

I'll just leave it as is, and put the Aura One up for sale in the Netherlands.

Forget the Oasis. It's a silly device. If someone was getting a Kindle, I'd say go for the current PW or the Voyage.

I've found a way at Kobo to buy eBooks cheaper than Amazon. At Kobo, set your location to India and if you have a working coupon, you'll get the eBooks even cheaper.

So you're sort of outsourcing your book buying to India?

Does it matter that your credit card address is not in India, or do you pay another way?

It doesn't matter about the address. I've used my credit card and both have worked no problem. I have a Capitol One that I don't get charged foreign transaction fees.

There's probably a trick I'm missing, but it doesn't work for me.

Changing my country is disabled unless I clear my payment details.

So I clear my payment details, and can now select India (or wherever).

But if I re-enter my payment details it resets my country.

Up until now, it hasn't mattered anything. I've bought books in many countries that way.

Don't try it at Amazon. If you do, you get an automated e-mail within minutes of buying your book, which is very polite in it's writing, but basically comes down to this:

"Please offer proof that you now live in this country. You can do so by sending us (___), or change your location at (...link...) page. I you don't and you buy a book again in this country, we're going to kick you in the nuts. Twice. And ban your account too. Yours sincerely, Amazon."

They won't remove the book from your account, nor charge you extra. They let you get away with it, this once. I know for sure. I've tried.

Well, I've never received that email from Amazon.com, I think because I created my account a loooooong time ago, before Amazon.es, and I've never changed my account.

If you're in the Netherlands, you can buy books at Amazon.com or Amazon.nl, if your location is set to the Netherlands. I've switched my location to a random address to buy a book at Amazon.co.uk, as it was 50% cheaper there. After buying the book there, I got that warning e-mail.

Ok, I've not switched my address, I didn't understand right. For amazon.es I have a different account. I think I have one at amazon.co.uk too, from the moment I began to purchase JD Robb's books.
