I have a first gen PW and am considering upgrading to the PW3 because of the discount. Is now a good time to commit, or is there likely to be a new release following the sale or in the new future?

Ah well I guess you can't return it then. Yes unfortunately it is still a lottery with the Kindles. Also to some degree it's in the eye of the beholder. Hopefully they will one day make them more uniform in lighting across the Kindle line up.

I just got myself a Paperwhite and can't wait to get it!! I have a Ipad mini 2 and I read a lot of books that my tablet was starting to hurt my eyes. So great time to buy the Paperwhite while on sale!

So far I am very impressed. I like the feel of the screen. Although I may have to get used to pressing a little more firmly, I am glad that a mere casual swipe won't cause me to accidentally lose my place in reading.

Last night, I was able to read in bed and could see the page so crisply. But I also really like the crispness in normal daylight reading.

So my first "honeymoon phase" impression, definite two thumbs up!
