I would not be suprised if the battery was damaged if you also have experienced multiple full drains of the battery. The firmware upgrade is apparantly delayed to wednesday so hang in there ...

Irex once again misses an oppotunity to keep to thier promise. The "minor addition" could have been a later "point" addition. I feel like they are alienating us as customers; not intentionally but the result is there. I know they are working hard it's just that dang communication piece and failed promises keeps tripping them up. |

Mine does the same thing, I'm a guru of the reset button and I just bought it not too long ago lol I wonder how anyone without a technical background could manage a device like this with all the PITA steps necessary to make it work...

sometimes ill have 4 bars and BAM! 20 minutes later its telling me its dead - How did they run this through QA and think this was even minimally acceptable even for early adopters

What firmware are you running, the original version had some bugs with battery charging/status. Also, are you sure you just don't have a bad battery? Going from 4 bars to dead in 20 minutes sounds like there's something wrong with your hardware.

Fact of the matter is that Irex should recall all DR1000 and replace the batteries free of charge but I'm sure they won't do that unless people bundle forces and sue them.

That said .... http://support.irexnet.com/index.php...id=87&nav=0,19 Valid for: Digital Reader 1000 Some units may charge slowly or intermittent. Please check the following. If the unit is *OFF* the unit should fully charge in 3-4 hours. If the unit is *ON* (the device uses now power too) charging may take up to 2.5 times longer i.e up to 7..10 hours to fully charge a battery. Conditions to test: power is supplied by a USB power source that can supply minimal 500 mA i.e a running PC or USB wall charger. If your unit takes considerably longer (about more than 50% longer) to charge then create a service ticket to report your case. Please mention the time it takes to charge and charge conditions.
