Stranger in a Strange Land coming to TV

I can only help that Syfy does a faithful adaptation. This is the Heinlein book I have been waiting to see in a serious movie or TV mini-series for many years.

The book already has a lot of sex though its not graphic.

Yes. And I expect Syfy to run with that. Sort of like how their show Defiance revolved around Datak's genitalia being touched as much as possible (even though it was not graphically shown).

SyFy is mostly a giant waste of potential. But I appreciated their adaptation of Dune (it was workmanlike, but at least earnest) and I thought they did a good job on Childhood's End.

I imagine that they will make it a Free Love vs a demonized version of traditional religion, movie.

I would rather see "Citizen of the Galaxy" or "Moon is a Harsh Mistress" But I doubt they could do a good job of either.

In today's environment I expect that the sex angle will take a back seat to the religious angle as far as "outrage" is concerned. Even discussing Michael Valentine's religious teachings could risk getting this thread banned.

Isn't that what the book was? I thought that Free Love vs. the demonized versions of politics, law enforcement, the military and mass media were just minor subplots.

GLORY ROAD is one of his few works that wouldn't raise hackles.

This is one of my least favourite Heinlein novels so I'm not bothered. I'm not even sure I ever finished it.

Personally, there's nothing that the man ever wrote that I hate, or even mildly dislike.
