It's perhaps not as great a deal, but Discover frequently offers 3-month periods in which they give you 5% cashback bonus on Amazon.com purchases. Usually your cashback bonus is something like 2% on all purchases anywhere that Discover is accepted.

They've got the 5% offer on Amazon purchases going on now, and continuing through December 2016. That is probably on up to $1,500 in purchases.

That may sound puny, but it does add up over time. Another thing to consider is that you can use your cashback bonus to buy discounted gift cards at a large number of national businesses. I use all of my cashback bonus to buy restaurant gift cards or e-cards for my elderly mother who lives a good distance from me. She loves them (especially the Olive Garden and Red Lobster ones; sometimes she'll spring for the Cracker Barrel one).

A typical deal would be a $50 gift card for $45 of your cashback dollars. I'm mathematically-challenged, but I do know that that is a 10% savings.

And, I apologize for not having more information about this, but I have heard some things in the last few weeks of a promotion that Discover has going on where if a cardholder gets another person, who doesn't have a Discover card, to sign up, both of the cardholders will get $50 in cashback bonus. You'll need to Google that promotion to make sure that I've got all of the details, above, straight and to get additional information. You might be able to find it readily at Discover.com, I dunno.

It's obvious that, like all retail businesses, Discover is wanting to get as big of a slice of the Christmas retail business $$$$ pie as they can. I'm happy to help them out if they have deals like that.
