Same with a translation: people only notice that there's serious work behind the scenes if said is lacking. And the translation sucks. Otherwise - no matter how complex the source text was, there 'll be always at least one idiot leafing trough the target text saying "oh, that's all?" + either asking if Google translate couldn't have done it, or saying to his (bilingual) secretary: "You could actually have hacked that down somewhen in between." Hehe... nah. That would be cruel. Even I had to think a moment to see that (For non-musical people: 7 sharps is the key of C#.)

Arrgghhh.

Susie ran over my blackthorn shillelagh with her wheelchair and broke it about 4 inches from the tip. That stick had become like and extension of my arm! I nearly wept.

I immediately went to Irish Blackthorn Walking Sticks and ordered a new one, and it arrived yesterday. But it's NOT THE SAME!

Objectively I knew it wouldn't be as each shillelagh is unique, but it's still NOT THE SAME! With much perseverance and gnashing of teeth perhaps I'll get used to it.

Oh no!!! The new one has character, to be sure. I hope you can eventually get used to it. Don't suppose the tip could be glued back onto the old one? Or an alternate end (though that wouldn't look good)?

No, thanks for asking. I can epoxy on a new brass tip to prevent splintering (if I can find one) but that will leave it much too short for me. Susie is, however a good deal shorter than I and would probably be able to use it.

I need a 36" stick, but we'll have to wait until she completes her knee replacement surgery to find out what she needs.

Well... couldn't you cut the end of the stick, the top of the broken tip (so there's no splintering), and then have the part of the wood you cut away replaced with a new piece made to fit? Then you could wrap a silver, gold or bronze band around the stick, new part, and part of the tip to hide the fact that there's a new part in there. Just an idea...

Well, if you really, really like that walking stick, it may be worth having it done.

(The idea actually comes from a short story I'm writing at the moment, in which one of the main characters has her staff broken and later fixed in this fashion )

I hate HP. My mom drop her laptop off for me to fix. It's a HP 15 Laptop and the keyboard and touchpad stopped working. Gurus help!
My sister did a system restore which I think made it worse.

It seems my brother upgraded it to Windows 10 for her last year so I'm trying update that.

It took me time to find the on screen keyboard but it's acting buggy.. The touch screen seems buggy.

The HP website does not support Windows 10.

She told me it started auto scrolling by itself and I think my sister did something to it that made it stop working and isn't telling me. She is not tech savvy.
