ten eleven twelve thirteen fourteen fifteen sixteen seventeen eighteen nineteen You might have a non-English word for those from 10 to 19 inclusive, but in English a teenager must be 13 to 19 inclusive.

No, our words are almost similar to the English ones (elf, twaalf, dertien, veertien, etc) but in Dutch the word teenager is also used for 10 to 12.

Well, the online Van Dale says about 'tiener' (the Dutch word for teenager): someone who is 13-19 years old. But other dictionaries also include 10-12. So I guess that for Dutch either definition will do. There is no 'right' or 'wrong', there is just inconsistent usage. The same might apply for English.

And while on the subject of age labels, young adult for books is wrong. YA means for teens. But, you cannot be a YA unless you are an adult. You are either an adult or you are not. So the term YA is worthless. And yo get back on topic, I hope Calibre has another 10 very good years. Last edited by JSWolf; 11-03-2016 at 06:58 PM.

Similarly you can be a both a child and a teenager, as I also once was (I was also once all three). I now am both an adult and middle-aged (and to my nieces/nephews old). IMHO Being an adult/child is more about maturity than age, whereas being a teenager is being aged 13-19 regardless of maturity. Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk PS I almost forgot, Happy Birthday Calibre. To be honest I've been using it that long from I first got my Sony prs505 that i can't believe its been only 10 years. What is amazing is that kovidgoyal has been telling users that they can't change the directory structure of the Calibre directory for 10 years! I know I was resistant at first to the structure until I got used to managing my library without moving the books around until I had saved them from Calibre to my "take to android" directory. It took Calibre to finally be able to manage my ebooks in a better way than just by author author-series-title. So, a belated happy birthday to my favorite ebook utility program. I'd be totally lost without Calibre. |
