Those of you who were waiting on some newer Avon titles to be added to the Harlequin site might want to look and see if what you wanted is there now. I just checked and the book I'd been checking for (from September) is finally available there.

Yeah, the Jill Shalvis was available just before midnight so I wasn't sure when it got added as I stopped checking midway through October. The nice thing is it looks like a lot of future titles have been added as well, so should be available on their actual release date

They were added yesterday, I think. I checked the other day. Finally got the Shalvis a few hours before midnight EST.

Book four was an incredible shock to the system and book five didn't really convey any of the grief/mourning or later happiness that their should have been.

That said I really liked the series and should give it another go.

Book six is full of romance. I'm hoping now the romance is settled she focuses on the main plot again. So far so good in book seven. As for mourning in five. She knew the guy only a few months so it didn't bother me.

Thanks for the heads up on Avon titles! I'll go have a look see.

I'd prefer no revision just a disclaimer that it was written in the ages of bodice rippers. Seriously to judge a bodice ripper by today's standards it's going to fall political incorrect. Look at Stormfire the mother of all bodice rippers. You couldn't edit it without losing the heart of the story or the impact of the ending. The poor heroine is raped not just by the hero but as the story progresses his brother and later a man her father sells her to. The hero in a drunken state give her to his men after beating her but she gets away. He tortures her thinking she betrayed him and those are just some of the non pc moments. I will never forget this book what the heroine goes through is just horrendous but there is a HEA and Catherine does find peace in the end.

I miss Calibre. Hubby hogs the desktop. I only have time to throw the new stuff in there and back up once a month.

I am trying to get used to the new 10th anniversary icons. Some I love, others...not so much

Something like a bazillion MC Beaton titles, pubbed by RosettaBooks (here in the US at least), have dropped to $1.99 at Kindle US. About two pages worth...several different series...

As I already a column for half star and a composite column to show it, it has simplified my database

And for icons, well, I'm quite reluctant to user interface changes, but I have the same opinion (Normal, I think)

How do you get half stars, all i see are full ones. I use the rating column thingie. I am so calibre challenged that unless its a feature in the open, I will never know how to use it. But I would love half stars. I just opened it again and still there are only 1-5 full stars. Is it a new update I haven't gotten yet?

No, the standard rating column doesn't support half stars. You have to create a custom column, rating type, and check "allow half stars (or something similar, I have Spanish interface)".

Ah thanks. Maybe one of these days when I figure it out. I'd have to go through one by one and redo all the stars then in all the books I read.

Its been so long I created a column, I'll have to re-learn that process. Took me forever to get the ones I do have, even just a yes/no have read or not one was a struggle to figure out back when. Its why I don't like to fiddle much with it. when I have to re-install it, I just copy that roaming folder thingy in and its like it was, has been for years basically.

I don't even know what you guys talked about with anniversary icons.
eta: never mind, just finished updating and now all the top icon thingies look different. Ugh, i hate change.

Not really, you could copy the original rating column to the new one, and modify it only if you like... and doing it for the new ones.

I think one day my calibre database is going to show a dialog saying: "Leave alone the custom columns"

Me too, but I think I'll keep them by the moment. I've have redone my menus and toolbar too, so it's a whole change

I can't figure out a way to copy it. I checked in the colums section, but I can't edit the preset ones, only user created so I can't do anything with it. So I'll have to go through one by one. One of those days when I am bored to death I'll do it. I did create the new one, so that I figured out.
